Position Summary

The Solution Sales Expert for the SAP HCM and SuccessFactors portfolio serves as a strategic leader within the Sales organization. Acting as the Solution Account Lead for designated accounts, the individual combines deep domain expertise, business acumen, and solution knowledge to drive cloud revenue growth and customer success.

This role is critical to accelerating the adoption of innovation, particularly in artificial intelligence, while aligning with SAP’s broader One SAP strategy. Through strategic planning, executive engagement, and solution orchestration, the Solution Sales Expert delivers measurable value across the customer lifecycle.

Core Areas of Responsibility

Strategic Account Leadership

The Solution Sales Expert assumes ownership of the Line of Business strategy within assigned accounts. By developing and executing comprehensive account plans aligned with customer objectives, the role ensures strong integration with broader account strategies and drives long-term growth.

Customer Value and Transformation Journey

Leveraging domain expertise in HCM and HR technology, the incumbent leads end-to-end process discussions and defines transformation roadmaps. Through structured discovery and strategic workshops, the role addresses high-priority business challenges and positions SAP solutions as enablers of sustainable change.

Pipeline Development and Revenue Expansion

In addition to managing active opportunities, the Solution Sales Expert identifies new business potential within existing accounts. By strengthening expansion strategies and nurturing executive relationships, the role contributes directly to pipeline growth and quota attainment.

Innovation and AI Adoption

A strong focus is placed on driving initiatives for emerging solutions. The role actively engages customers in early innovation discussions, validates solution relevance, and supports initiatives such as AI transformation programs, scalable proof-of-concept deployments, and intelligent automation use cases.

Executive Engagement and Value Articulation

Working closely with value advisory teams, the Solution Sales Expert develops compelling ROI narratives and quantified business cases. Through executive presentations and buying center alignment, the role accelerates demand creation beyond traditional RFP processes.

Commercial Strategy and Negotiation

The position involves navigating complex pricing and contractual discussions while balancing customer expectations with SAP’s revenue objectives. Strategic negotiation skills are essential for securing profitable, sustainable agreements.

Adoption and Customer Success Enablement

By collaborating with Customer Success teams, the Solution Sales Expert supports solution adoption, renewal cycles, and executive reviews. Regular business reviews ensure continuous value realization and risk mitigation.

Ecosystem and Partner Collaboration

The role maintains strong engagement with strategic consulting partners, including leading global advisory firms. Through co-innovation and joint strategies, the Solution Sales Expert enhances market positioning and delivers differentiated solutions.

Functional Orchestration

Close alignment with the Sales, Product, and Marketing teams ensures the solution strategy is fully embedded in the go-to-market engine. The role operates effectively in a matrix environment, influencing stakeholders without direct authority.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a seasoned enterprise sales leader with a consulting mindset and strong executive presence. The individual demonstrates the ability to connect technology capabilities with business outcomes while fostering trusted relationships at the C-suite level.

Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

Experience and Expertise

  • Fifteen or more years of industry or practitioner experience, ideally with a consulting background.
  • Twelve or more years in a quota sales role.
  • At least four years of domain expertise in HR technology, Human Capital Management, or related application sales.
  • Proven success in B2B enterprise SaaS environments involving complex stakeholder cycles.
  • Demonstrated track record in account expansion and strategic solution selling.
  • Deep knowledge of SAP solutions, particularly within the HCM and SuccessFactors portfolio.
  • Strong understanding of AI trends and digital innovation in enterprise environments.
  • Experience in developing quantified ROI cases and compelling value storytelling.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively within a matrix organization and drive outcomes through influence.
