Role Overview
SAP is hiring a CX Commerce iXp Intern for Software Development as part of its global SAP Internship Experience Program. This opportunity is designed for university students who want hands-on exposure to real-world engineering challenges while contributing to large-scale commerce platforms used across industries.
The role focuses on both backend and frontend development within an international engineering team working on CX Commerce and Intelligent Selling Services. The intern will contribute directly to production systems while gaining deep exposure to enterprise-level software development practices.

Core Responsibilities and Focus Areas
Software Engineering and Development
The intern supports the development of backend and frontend components while working closely with experienced engineers on production-grade systems. Responsibilities include fixing live production issues, improving code quality, and implementing new platform features.
Security, Compliance, and Code Quality
The role involves updating libraries, removing vulnerable dependencies, and supporting compliance-related improvements. Through refactoring and automated testing, the intern helps improve maintainability and long-term system reliability.
Feature Development and Platform Enhancements
The intern contributes to the development of new capabilities in search, personalization, and merchandising. These improvements directly affect customer engagement, conversion rates, and platform scalability.
Collaboration and Documentation
The role includes active participation in code reviews, daily SCRUM meetings, and cross-team collaboration. Clear technical documentation, such as design notes, API documentation, and release updates, is an essential part of the work.
Team and Work Environment
The intern joins Team Argonauts, an international group of engineers based in Germany and Poland. The team works in a SCRUM environment with daily standups and close collaboration through Slack and Microsoft Teams. Required Candidate Profile
Education Requirements
The role is open to students currently enrolled at a university or university of applied sciences.
Required Technical Skills
- Practical experience with Java programming
- Familiarity with Git, code reviews, and CI CD workflows
- Ability to debug production issues using logs and stack traces
- Basic understanding of dependency management and software security
- Strong English communication skills at a minimum B2 level
Preferred Technical Skills
- Experience with frontend technologies such as React or TypeScript
- Exposure to REST APIs
- Familiarity with Docker and cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
