Key Responsibilities and Focus Areas
Business Driven Data Engineering
The Senior Data Engineer collaborates closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements and convert them into robust, scalable data solutions that deliver measurable value.
Data Pipeline Design and Implementation
The role involves designing and implementing end-to-end data pipelines using Azure services and Databricks. This includes building advanced transformation logic to support analytics and reporting needs.
Platform and DevOps Ownership
The position requires setting up and managing DevOps environments from the ground up. Responsibilities include configuration, CI/CD pipelines, releases, deployments, and production hotfixes.
Advanced Data Development
The Senior Data Engineer writes clean and efficient code using SQL, Python, PySpark, and scripting languages. In addition, the role includes developing Power BI dashboards and contributing to strong data modeling practices.
Integration and AI Enablement
This role supports integration across APIs and enterprise systems. It also involves connecting AI models to business workflows to enhance automation and intelligence.
Agile Collaboration
The position operates within an Agile environment and requires active participation, transparency, and collaboration across multiple parallel initiatives.
Team and Work Environment
The Senior Data Engineer joins a high-performing team that includes Data Architects, Data Engineers, and Data Analysts. Close collaboration with Digital Product Managers and Product Owners within Volvo Energy is a core part of the role.
Teams and stakeholders are distributed across multiple locations. However, this position is based at the site in Göteborg, Sweden, and requires regular office presence.
Required Candidate Profile
Required Experience and Skills
Candidates are expected to bring at least ten years of hands-on experience in data engineering and pipeline implementation. Strong expertise in Azure DevOps, Databricks, and Git is essential.
The role requires advanced coding and troubleshooting skills in SQL, Python, and PySpark. Experience with API and system integration, as well as AI model integration, is also critical.
Excellent communication skills are required, as the position involves independent interaction with business stakeholders. Experience working in Agile environments and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset are equally important.
Strong capabilities in data modeling and Power BI dashboard development are expected.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with automation and shell scripting is considered an advantage and will support efficiency across development and operational workflows.
