About the Role
NTT DATA is seeking an experienced Senior Mainframe DB2 Systems Administrator to join its remote infrastructure team. This role is ideal for a seasoned technology professional with deep expertise in IBM Mainframe DB2 environments, systems performance, disaster recovery planning, and enterprise platform support.
You will work closely with internal teams, customers, and strategic technology partners to ensure the stability, performance, security, and continuous improvement of critical mainframe systems.
This position offers the opportunity to provide technical leadership, support major infrastructure projects, and contribute to mission-critical enterprise operations.
Key Responsibilities
Mainframe DB2 Administration
- Install, configure, maintain, and support IBM DB2 systems in enterprise environments.
- Perform software upgrades, migrations, and system enhancements.
- Manage DB2 performance optimization and tuning initiatives.
- Monitor system health and proactively address performance concerns.
- Support database reliability, availability, and scalability objectives.
Technical Leadership
- Provide expert-level guidance during critical system incidents and escalations.
- Review infrastructure changes and assess technical impact.
- Recommend system improvements and operational best practices.
- Participate in strategic planning and technology modernization initiatives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor for complex mainframe-related projects.
Systems Support & Operations
- Support enterprise mainframe environments and related technologies.
- Collaborate with internal security teams to maintain system integrity and compliance.
- Assist with system architecture reviews and infrastructure planning.
- Ensure operational documentation remains current and accurate.
- Contribute to long-term platform stability and performance improvements.
Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity
- Maintain disaster recovery and business continuity documentation.
- Support backup, replication, and recovery strategies.
- Participate in recovery planning, testing, and validation exercises.
- Help ensure business-critical systems remain resilient and recoverable.
Project Participation
- Support enterprise infrastructure upgrades and migration projects.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
- Assist in planning and implementing new technologies and enhancements.
- Provide technical leadership throughout project lifecycles.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
- 10+ years of hands-on experience supporting IBM Mainframe DB2 environments.
- Extensive experience with enterprise systems administration and infrastructure support.
- Proven experience leading technical initiatives and supporting mission-critical platforms.
- Strong background in enterprise technology operations and performance management.
Technical Skills
- IBM DB2 installation, configuration, and administration.
- DB2 performance monitoring and optimization.
- SMP/E software installation and maintenance.
- Mainframe disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
- Backup, replication, and recovery technologies.
- Mainframe hardware and storage management.
- Systems architecture and infrastructure design.
- TCP/IP networking and enterprise communications.
Additional Technical Knowledge
Experience with the following is considered highly valuable:
- z/OS administration
- JES2
- CICS
- RACF
- SMS storage management
- Mainframe security practices
- Performance analysis and troubleshooting
