The Role

The Senior Home Risk Pricing Manager will play a crucial role in helping Hastings Direct achieve its profit and growth targets for the home insurance segment. The position requires using advanced analytics and innovative pricing methods to deliver smarter, segmented pricing strategies that impact real-time rates and strengthen market competitiveness.

This leadership role involves managing a team of pricing professionals and contributing to the company’s ambitious goal of expanding its home insurance book, which has already grown from under 100,000 to over 800,000 customers within five years.

Core Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of managers and analysts focused on delivering high-performance pricing outcomes.
  • Analyse large, complex datasets (including loss, policy, quote, and market data) to uncover risk-based pricing opportunities.
  • Develop and apply new analytical models and data integration techniques to refine pricing accuracy.
  • Collaborate closely with teams across Actuarial, Underwriting, Data Science, Data Engineering, and Digital Operations.
  • Evaluate and enhance technical models created by actuaries and data scientists.
  • Own and continuously refine the home pricing algorithm.
  • Build tools and processes for automated pricing analysis and lead generation.
  • Ensure that pricing outcomes are fair, transparent, and aligned with customer expectations.
  • Represent the Home Pricing team in cross-functional business projects to generate broader value.

  • Strong numerical, analytical, and coding skills (Python preferred).

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Collaborative approach with a passion for mentoring and developing others.
  • Prior experience in the personal lines insurance market is desirable; however, candidates with expertise in other analytical or financial sectors will also be considered.
