About the Role
Wealthsimple is hiring experienced Staff Product Designers to help shape the future of digital financial experiences. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact consumer products across investing, banking, growth, and financial planning experiences used by millions of customers.
As a senior design leader, you will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, and content specialists to create intuitive, user-centered experiences that simplify complex financial decisions. You’ll contribute across the entire product lifecycle—from early research and strategy through interaction design, visual design, testing, and product launch.
This role is ideal for designers who enjoy solving challenging product problems, influencing product strategy, mentoring peers, and creating elegant solutions that improve everyday financial experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Product Experience Design
- Design intuitive digital experiences across mobile and web platforms
- Transform complex financial workflows into simple, user-friendly journeys
- Create wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and high-fidelity designs
- Develop thoughtful interactions that improve usability and engagement
- Ensure design consistency across products and experiences
User Research & Discovery
- Conduct research to understand customer needs and behaviors
- Analyze data and customer insights to identify opportunities
- Validate design decisions through testing and experimentation
- Advocate for customer needs throughout product development
- Translate research findings into actionable product improvements
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, and content teams
- Participate in strategic product planning and roadmap discussions
- Contribute to decision-making throughout the development process
- Align design solutions with business and customer goals
- Support successful product launches and ongoing optimization
Design Systems & Quality
- Help evolve and maintain scalable design systems
- Promote consistency, accessibility, and usability standards
- Raise design quality across teams and initiatives
- Improve design processes and collaboration workflows
- Contribute to design best practices and documentation
Leadership & Mentorship
- Lead large-scale product initiatives and design programs
- Mentor designers and provide constructive feedback
- Help establish design standards and strategic direction
- Influence product vision and long-term experience strategy
- Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement
Skills & Qualifications
Required Skills
- Extensive experience designing consumer-facing digital products
- Strong UX, interaction design, and visual design expertise
- Experience designing mobile applications for iOS, Android, or React Native platforms
- Ability to solve complex product challenges through user-centered design
- Strong prototyping, wireframing, and interaction design skills
- Experience collaborating closely with product and engineering teams
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities
- Strong understanding of product development processes
- Ability to balance customer needs, business goals, and technical constraints
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in financial technology, banking, investing, or financial services
- Leadership experience guiding design strategy and large initiatives
- Experience mentoring and developing design team members
- Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design work
- Experience working with data-informed design decisions
- Knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design practices
