Role Purpose

The Teller Officer supports daily retail banking operations by handling financial transactions for individual and corporate customers. The role focuses on accuracy, speed, and risk-free execution while maintaining high service standards at all times.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Customer Experience Management

The Teller Officer manages customer expectations during every interaction and ensures compliance with approved service standards. The role focuses on reducing wait and service times through efficient transaction processing. All counter transactions are completed accurately and promptly. Customers from diverse backgrounds are served fairly, without bias related to nationality or profile.

Teller Operations and Cash Handling

The role involves investigating cash differences by reviewing reports, cash counts, and note denominations. Any deviation or exception is reported to the relevant authority without delay. The Teller Officer promotes ATM usage while ensuring minimal operational risk. Constant alertness to potential fraud is required throughout daily operations.

Issue Resolution and Team Collaboration

The Teller Officer addresses transaction-related issues such as cash shortages or excess. Close coordination with central operations is required to resolve customer concerns efficiently. Teamwork plays a key role in maintaining smooth branch operations.

Risk Control and Compliance

The position requires strict adherence to cash handling processes to eliminate the risk of discrepancies. Accurate receipt and delivery of cash are essential. The Teller Officer follows all internal policies and procedures to maintain a satisfactory audit rating.

Consumer Protection and Ethical Conduct

The role ensures full compliance with consumer protection standards, including fair treatment of customers, clear and accurate communication about services, and timely handling of inquiries or complaints. Customer data protection is a priority. The Teller Officer identifies and reports suspicious activities and stays informed about regulatory expectations, the SIB Conduct Risk Framework, and related procedures.

Competency Focus – Customer Service and Consumer Protection

The Teller Officer demonstrates strong knowledge of consumer protection regulations and consistently applies them. Ethical conduct, transparency, and prompt complaint resolution are core expectations. The role encourages continuous learning and proactive input on improving banking policies and customer practices.

Candidate Requirements

Educational Background

A diploma in Accounting, Information Administration, or Banking is required.

Professional Experience

A minimum of one year of experience as a teller or customer service agent in a banking environment is required.

Technical Skills

Basic proficiency in MS Office is expected.

Language Proficiency

English proficiency at an independent level is required. Arabic proficiency is mandatory.
