The Opportunity

Waukesha Bearings, a leading designer and manufacturer of hydrodynamic fluid film bearings, active magnetic bearing systems, and seals, is seeking a Senior Manager, Business Development & Key Accounts.

This role is fully remote with significant travel (up to 50%) to meet with strategic customers across the United States. The position calls for a results-driven business development professional who thrives in building strong relationships, expanding market share, and positioning engineered solutions as high-value offerings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Market Growth & Strategy
    • Identify, screen, and develop new opportunities in alignment with the company strategy.
    • Re-engage dormant accounts while prospecting for new customers.
    • Monitor competitive landscapes and market trends to maximize growth opportunities.
  • Customer Engagement
    • Cultivate deep, multi-level relationships with key accounts—spanning technical, procurement, and executive levels.
    • Serve as a “Trusted Advisor,” ensuring the company remains a preferred partner for engineered solutions.
    • Deliver compelling value propositions through in-person presentations and consultative selling.
  • Collaboration & Leadership
    • Partner with operations and cross-functional teams to ensure customer success and satisfaction.
    • Provide insights and market feedback to leadership for strategic planning.
    • Mentor junior team members, fostering growth and collaboration across the organization.
  • Execution & Delivery
    • Drive pricing and technical solution strategies aligned with customer needs.
    • Manage solution delivery, working closely with Engineering and other departments.
    • Apply lean techniques to improve business processes and customer service delivery.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (other degrees considered with relevant experience).
  • 15+ years in business development, preferably in engineered products, turbomachinery, or OEM sales.
  • Proven ability to grow market share and secure “Trusted Advisor” status with clients.
  • Strong consultative selling and relationship-building expertise.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and commercial data analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% domestically.

Preferred Experience

  • Sales experience in turbomachinery, rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, turbines), or reciprocating compressor components.
  • Established relationships within oil & gas, power generation, marine, or related industrial markets.
  • Background in continuous improvement using Lean, Kaizen, or process analysis tools.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $140,000 – $185,000 annually
  • Bonus: Eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance
