Senior Growth Engineer – Full-Stack Web & Marketing Systems

Buffer is hiring a Senior Growth Engineer to build the web experiences, technical systems, and infrastructure that support the company’s growth. This hands-on engineering role sits within the Marketing team and spans frontend development, backend logic, analytics, experimentation, SEO infrastructure, third-party integrations, and conversion-focused product experiences.

You will work across buffer.com to create landing pages, interactive tools, referral systems, conversion flows, localization capabilities, attribution systems, and other experiences designed to help creators and small teams discover and start using Buffer.

Job Overview

The Senior Growth Engineer will own growth-focused engineering projects from initial concept through launch and iteration. The position requires strong frontend expertise alongside the ability to work with backend logic, APIs, analytics systems, marketing technology, and technical infrastructure when projects extend beyond the user interface.

You will collaborate closely with Marketing, UX Design, and Engineering while balancing rapid experimentation with performance, accessibility, reliability, and overall product quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own growth engineering initiatives from planning and implementation through launch and ongoing improvement.
  • Build features and experiences across Buffer’s marketing website that help prospective customers discover and try the product.
  • Develop landing pages, conversion flows, interactive tools, calculators, benchmarks, and other useful web experiences.
  • Build technical systems supporting localization, referral programs, attribution, analytics, and reliable tracking.
  • Create experimentation and A/B testing infrastructure that enables the Marketing team to test and improve ideas efficiently.
  • Develop programmatic page-generation capabilities supporting SEO and AEO initiatives.
  • Create reusable components, content management patterns, and frameworks that make future marketing projects easier to deliver.
  • Set up experiments, evaluate results, and iterate based on observed user behavior and performance.
  • Maintain integrations across Buffer’s marketing technology and analytics stack.
  • Upgrade dependencies, improve web performance, and maintain accessibility standards.
  • Participate in the engineering on-call rotation and contribute to the ongoing reliability of buffer.com.
  • Review code, pair with engineers, share technical knowledge, and contribute to engineering practices around growth and frontend development.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong frontend engineering foundations using React, TypeScript, and modern web development practices.
  • Ability to work beyond frontend development when necessary, including backend logic, API routes, and third-party integrations.
  • Understanding of growth-focused engineering and how technical changes can influence measurable business outcomes.
  • Experience or practical knowledge related to SEO, analytics, experimentation, A/B testing, or conversion optimization.
  • Ability to build systems with attention to reliability, maintainability, user experience, and technical quality.
  • Strong communication skills for working across Engineering, Marketing, and Design teams.
  • Ability to work independently and make progress within a remote, asynchronous environment.
  • Experience building AI into user-facing marketing features at scale.
  • Daily use of AI tools to improve engineering productivity and output.
  • Personal familiarity with content creation, such as publishing online, building an audience, running a newsletter, or similar experience.
  • Experience using Buffer and an understanding of the content planning, creation, and publishing experience.

Compensation

The annual compensation range for this full-time position is $156,500–$202,300 USD. Buffer also states that the position offers equity.

Work Arrangement

Buffer operates as a fully distributed company with team members working remotely around the world. The company also gathers in person once or twice each year, and participation in these events is highly encouraged.
