Certification Manager

Job Overview

ClickHouse currently provides credentialed badges for course completion as well as a performance-based ClickHouse Certified Developer exam. The Certification Manager will expand this program by developing additional practical exams around ClickHouse use cases such as real-time analytics, observability, and data warehousing.

You will manage the certification lifecycle from job task analysis and assessment development through grading, credential delivery, reporting, learner support, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop hands-on, performance-based ClickHouse certification exams covering technical use cases such as real-time analytics, observability, and data warehousing.
• Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to develop job task analyses for certification exams.
• Grade, maintain, and update certification assessments.
• Develop scripts used to grade technical certification exams.
• Create quizzes supporting course-completion badges and other ClickHouse credentials.
• Write and deploy assessments associated with certification and badging programs.
• Develop a community presence for ClickHouse-certified professionals through relevant social platforms and in-person events.
• Engage with the technical community at ClickHouse user conferences and Meetups.
• Track certification program performance and report relevant metrics and KPIs.
• Coordinate with certification and digital badging vendors to maintain reliable exam and credential delivery.
• Provide customer support to learners interested in earning ClickHouse certifications.
• Travel occasionally to conferences and Meetups to promote ClickHouse certification within the community.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience developing certification exams and quizzes for highly technical audiences such as software engineers and database developers.
• Experience working with SQL.
• Broad technical knowledge across relevant areas such as database management systems, OLAP, Cloud/SaaS platforms, distributed systems, software engineering, and big data.
• Ability to learn unfamiliar technologies quickly and apply that knowledge effectively.
• Strong ownership, responsibility, and accountability for projects and outcomes.
• Self-motivated approach with the ability to complete projects within a fast-moving startup environment.
• Excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• 60+ months of certification experience within the technical software industry.
• Experience developing curriculum or providing instruction related to databases or distributed systems.
• Experience working with the ClickHouse database.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure.
• Experience developing software-focused certification exams.
• Ability to collaborate across Engineering, Support, Product, and Development teams.
• Technical degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Compensation

The typical starting salary range for this position in the United States is $169,000–$191,000 USD per year. For U.S. Premium Markets, including locations such as the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City Metro Area, the typical starting range is $188,000–$212,000 USD per year.

Actual compensation depends on factors including location, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, and business needs.

Work Arrangement

This position is remote within the United States. ClickHouse operates as a globally distributed and remote-friendly company across more than 20 countries. Occasional travel to ClickHouse Meetups and conferences is required as part of the certification community responsibilities.
