Role Overview
The Toronto office is seeking an Electrical Engineer – Building Power Systems with a minimum of six years of relevant experience. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to projects spanning commercial, industrial, institutional, healthcare, and governmental sectors, with additional exposure to district energy and specialized infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will bring technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and leadership capabilities to support multidisciplinary teams and deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
Core Responsibilities
- Power Systems Engineering
- Prepare master planning studies, preliminary and detailed engineering designs, and contract administration.
- Develop drawing packages and specifications suitable for tender and construction, covering service entrances, distribution systems (120/208V to 25kV), generators, lightning protection, bonding and grounding systems, and more.
- Carry out advanced power system studies, including short circuit, load flow, protective device coordination, and arc flash analysis.
- Collaboration & Project Leadership
- Work alongside architects, mechanical and structural engineers, and other specialists to address complex project needs.
- Take ownership of specific project tasks or entire projects, managing deliverables and schedules with minimal supervision.
- Engage directly with clients to understand scope, budgetary constraints, and technical challenges, offering innovative and cost-effective design solutions.
- Innovation & Learning
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Recommend modern design strategies and digital tools that align with project needs.
- Promote efficiency by organizing project execution with available staff and resources.
Ideal Candidate
Technical Expertise
- Strong grasp of electrical systems, National Electrical Code, and applicable building/energy codes.
- Demonstrated knowledge of all project documentation phases and the interplay between specifications and drawings.
- Familiarity with software such as MS Office, MS Project, AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, Visual, and AGI. Additional expertise in CYME, EASYPOWER, SCADA, and protection/controls systems would be advantageous.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng).
- Minimum six years of professional experience.
- LEED Green Associate or LEED AP accreditation preferred.
