Overview of the Opportunity

Volvo Construction Equipment invites experienced operations leaders to join as Head of Operations – VCE India. This role offers the chance to shape sustainable transport and infrastructure solutions while driving operational excellence and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. The successful candidate will lead the Peenya manufacturing facility, influencing both local and global operations, while contributing to the Volvo Group’s mission of creating a cleaner, more intelligent, and more connected world.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead all day-to-day operations of the VCE India manufacturing facility, ensuring targets in safety, quality, production, delivery, and customer satisfaction are met.
  • Act as site leader, coordinating cross-functional initiatives and fostering collaboration among teams.
  • Guide plant operations while balancing the needs of employees, customers, owners, and society.
  • Serve as a key member of the Global Operations Management Team, VCE India Management Team, and Volvo Group India Country Management Team.
  • Shape industrial footprint in India through evaluation of expansion opportunities, local sourcing, and supply base development.
  • Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence through the application of Lean manufacturing principles, digitalization, and innovation.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, diversity, autonomy, and open dialogue across all functions.

Key Competencies & Experience

  • Extensive senior leadership experience in operations, preferably in automotive, construction equipment, or heavy machinery industries.
  • Hands-on expertise in end-to-end manufacturing operations, including assembly, fabrication, machining, painting, logistics, and supply chain management.
  • Proven ability to lead operational scale-up initiatives and expand the supply base.
  • Deep understanding of Lean manufacturing principles and operational excellence strategies.
  • Strong commitment to sustainability, health, safety, environment (HSE), and quality excellence.
  • Skilled in stakeholder management, engaging suppliers, dealers, customers, and labor unions.
  • Experience in automation, digitalization, and data analytics in manufacturing operations.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related discipline.
