Role Overview
The Assistant Manager, Merchandising, will help shape the in-store experience for customers while driving profitable sales growth. This role is crucial in ensuring smooth store operations, visual merchandising excellence, and a motivated team. The Assistant Manager will work closely with the General Manager and other leaders to implement effective strategies, train staff, and uphold brand standards at the new Mayfair Shopping Center store.
Core Responsibilities
1. Store Leadership and Operations
Lead by example to maintain operational excellence and execute company processes. Oversee service standards, compliance, and daily sales activities to achieve performance goals.
2. Merchandising and Brand Presentation
Implement visual merchandising standards that reflect Gap’s identity. Ensure product placement aligns with seasonal and promotional strategies to maximize customer engagement and drive sales.
3. Team Development and Performance
Recruit, train, and mentor Brand Associates and Experts to create a high-performing team. Encourage professional growth through consistent feedback and coaching.
4. Customer Experience and Engagement
Foster a customer-first culture by ensuring every visitor enjoys a welcoming and seamless shopping experience. Utilize omnichannel tools to enhance customer satisfaction.
5. Community and Brand Representation
Represent Gap within the local community by promoting involvement and supporting initiatives that align with the company’s values.
Candidate Profile
Ideal Background
- 1–3 years of experience in retail management.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
- Passion for fashion retail and team development.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient with retail technologies and adaptable to new systems.
Physical Requirements
Ability to move across the sales floor, stockroom, and office, lifting to 30 lbs as needed.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience in retail management preferred.
