Role Overview
The Treasury Banking Manager will lead the Banking team under the Treasury function. The role involves building strong commercial relationships, managing essential accounts and partners, and supporting Wise’s rapid growth. The manager supervises a small team and serves as the link between the Treasury function and banking partners across multiple financial products.
Core Responsibilities
- Banking Portfolio Leadership
The manager oversees the lifecycle of relationships with global Tier 1 banks, FX liquidity providers, custodians, Money Market Fund partners, and fixed income trading counterparties.
- Commercial Performance Review
The manager conducts service reviews, leads commercial negotiations, and tracks Wise’s share of wallet across FX, deposits, and investment products. The goal is to secure competitive pricing and robust partner performance.
- Onboarding and Documentation
The manager supervises onboarding for new Treasury counterparties involving ISDA agreements, custody setup, trading limits, and compliance checks. They also guide ongoing KYC refreshes and due diligence activities.
- Treasury Partner Liaison
The role serves as the primary point of contact for external Treasury partners. The manager ensures a unified voice from Wise and aligns communication with internal teams that share the same partners.
- Operational Enhancements
The manager collaborates with Treasury Operations and Engineering teams to resolve escalations, enhance settlement processes, and reduce friction in banking infrastructure.
- Safeguarding Account Oversight
The role includes oversight of regulated safeguarding accounts to ensure compliance. The manager oversees auditing, diversification, and proper maintenance in accordance with Wise’s risk standards.
- Team Leadership
The manager leads two Banking Associates. They support the associates in global administrative tasks, skill development, and workload prioritisation.
- Process Optimisation
The manager identifies manual gaps across account opening, fee analyses, and signer management. They support automation or streamlining projects across the banking function.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience in Treasury
Candidates bring more than five years of experience in banking relationships, Treasury operations, or Transaction Banking. They understand FX, liquidity, MM deposits, and broader Treasury needs.
Relationship Building Skills
Candidates have managed bank partnerships and can navigate large financial institutions. They can negotiate terms and challenge service gaps when needed.
Technical Financial Knowledge
Candidates understand ISDA and CSA documentation, credit facilities, KYC standards, GMRA agreements, and SWIFT communication.
Strong Organisation and Execution
Candidates can manage large workloads without losing accuracy. They feel comfortable handling complex administrative processes.
Clear Communication Skills
