Role Overview
The Software Development Trainee (Java) position provides aspiring developers with hands-on experience in modern backend development, secure coding practices, and scalable system design. Working within a highly collaborative team in Finland, trainees will be mentored by experienced engineers and gain exposure to cutting-edge technologies such as microservices, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines.
Key Learning Areas & Responsibilities
- Apply Java programming with the Spring Boot framework in real-world projects.
- Design, develop, and test REST APIs to support scalable applications.
- Work with diverse databases, including SQL, Cassandra, and MongoDB.
- Implement secure coding practices and contribute to application security improvements.
- Collaborate with senior engineers on software design and optimization.
- Participate actively in code reviews to refine skills and ensure code quality.
- Gain exposure to microservices architecture, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes.
Candidate Profile
Education & Eligibility
- Must be an active student at a university, university of applied sciences, or equivalent institution.
- Relevant coursework in software engineering, computer science, or related fields.
Core Requirements
- Basic knowledge of Java programming and the Spring Boot framework.
- Familiarity with SQL or NoSQL databases.
- Understanding of Kafka concepts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Interest in backend development and software security.
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of Cassandra, SQL, or MongoDB.
- Hands-on experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, or Kubernetes.
- Awareness of software security principles.
- Familiarity with microservices architecture.
- Understanding of multithreaded programming and non-blocking I/O is a plus.
