Role Overview

The Senior SAP Tax Analyst – Direct Tax at Shell will play a pivotal role in ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of direct tax compliance, reporting, and advisory services. The role requires hands-on expertise in SAP solutions, strong tax knowledge, and effective collaboration with global stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities

Solution Design & Functional Leadership

  • Lead SAP FI and Direct Tax solutions, ensuring functional design excellence.
  • Oversee S/4HANA Tax Solutions for Direct Tax interfaces and conduct design lead sessions.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers for solution design, effort estimation, and functional specifications.
  • Manage the development of reports, interfaces, enhancements, and forms; perform prototyping to validate design.

Stakeholder Management & Collaboration

  • Partner with Process Experts, SMEs, and Product Managers to translate requirements into functional solutions.
  • Work closely with Design Leads and Delivery Leads to apply new capabilities.
  • Collaborate with Change Management and Release Management teams via Azure DevOps.
  • Manage batch job scheduling, period-end activities, and cross-scrum coordination with Direct and Indirect Tax teams.

Quality Assurance & Testing

  • Conduct quality assessments and peer reviews.
  • Execute unit and integration testing; support user acceptance testing.
  • Resolve defects during test cycles and provide post-go-live support.
  • Prepare cutover activities and run books to ensure operational readiness.

Support & Compliance

  • Assist in resolving production issues with the support teams.
  • Ensure compliance with audit and reporting requirements.

Required Candidate

Core Expertise

  • Extensive experience in SAP Direct Tax (Corporate Tax & Withholding Tax) determination and reporting.
  • Proven experience in ECC to S/4HANA transformation projects.
  • Familiarity with Property Tax Management System (PTMS).
  • Strong understanding of corporate tax, income tax, and global tax regulations.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) for tax risk reporting.
  • Expertise in SAP PaPM for transfer pricing automation.
  • Knowledge of SAP Tax Compliance and automated risk detection using ML.
  • Ability to debug technical issues and provide functional insights.
  • Familiarity with the integration between Asset Accounting and Revenue Accounting is advantageous.

Leadership & Functional Skills

  • Strong communication skills to engage senior finance stakeholders.
  • Effective collaboration with process owners and finance leadership.
  • Active participation in high-performing IT teams with a focus on business value.

Agile & Tools

  • Solid understanding of Agile frameworks, Azure DevOps, and Power Platform Apps.
  • Experience leading Agile initiatives and training stakeholders.

Integration & Compliance

  • Experience with ERP-to-ERP interfaces and third-party application integration.
  • Expertise in tax audits, regulatory compliance, and discrepancy resolution.
  • Ability to optimize tax liabilities through effective planning.
