Senior Full Stack Software Engineer

Job Overview

As a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer, you will contribute to modern web applications, backend microservices, cloud-native services, and distributed systems. The role requires strong hands-on engineering skills and the ability to work across the full software delivery lifecycle, from implementation and code review through deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and production support.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable full-stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, React, and modern frameworks.
• Build and enhance RESTful APIs, backend services, and microservices architectures.
• Develop responsive and dynamic user interfaces using React.
• Work with relational and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL and DynamoDB.
• Design and maintain AWS-based solutions using services such as S3, Lambda, RDS, and EKS.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Terraform, or similar tools.
• Develop and optimize event-driven and messaging solutions using Kafka, SQS, RabbitMQ, or related technologies.
• Perform code reviews, testing, debugging, monitoring, and production support.
• Monitor system performance and help resolve production incidents.
• Collaborate with engineering teams and business stakeholders in an agile environment.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.

Required Qualifications

• 60+ months of professional full-stack software development experience.
• Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, React, and REST APIs.
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-native environments.
• Experience designing and working with microservices and distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of scalable application architecture.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and Terraform.
• Experience with Kafka, SQS, RabbitMQ, or other messaging technologies.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and database optimization.
• Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools such as Splunk or New Relic.
• Strong debugging, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Must currently be living in Costa Rica.

Work Arrangement

This is a full-time, fully remote position based in Costa Rica. Candidates must currently be living in Costa Rica; applications from outside Costa Rica will not be considered according to the job posting.
