Technical Support Representative

Job Overview

As a Technical Support Representative, you will help Porkbun customers resolve issues involving domain names, DNS, hosting, email configuration, payments, domain transfers, and connections with third-party services.

Phone and live chat support will be the primary priorities of this role. You should be comfortable diagnosing technical problems in real time while communicating solutions in a way customers can easily understand.

What You’ll Help Customers With

Customer questions may include situations such as:

• Connecting a domain name to Shopify or another service.
• Transferring an existing domain to Porkbun.
• Diagnosing why a website is not working.
• Helping customers understand how to purchase WordPress hosting.
• Investigating payment-related problems.
• Connecting hosted email accounts with Outlook.
• Answering general questions about Porkbun’s products and services.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide responsive live technical support through phone and chat.
• Assist customers through email when appropriate.
• Diagnose domain, DNS, hosting, email, website, and related technical issues.
• Communicate technical solutions clearly to customers with different levels of technical knowledge.
• Remain professional and helpful when customers are frustrated, stressed, or dealing with urgent problems.
• Write clear and professional customer-support emails.
• Investigate problems efficiently and identify practical solutions.
• Deliver personalized customer service rather than relying solely on generic responses.
• Work effectively and independently within a fully remote support environment.
• Continue developing knowledge of domain names, hosting, DNS, and Porkbun’s services.

Required Qualifications

• At least two years of technical support experience in an internal help desk or customer-facing technical support position.
• Experience with domains, DNS, and hosting.
• Strong technical troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
• Ability to provide live customer support through phone and chat.
• Professional written communication skills for email support.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Customer-focused mindset and genuine interest in helping people resolve problems.
• Ability to work efficiently in a remote environment.
• Reliable and steady internet connection.
• A quiet workspace suitable for handling customer phone calls.
• Must be based in the United States and eligible for employment.
• Must be available and willing to work both Saturday and Sunday.

Preferred Experience

• Professional or personal experience working extensively with domain names, web hosting, and DNS.
• Experience providing customer support across multiple channels, including phone, live chat, and email.
• Multiple years of professional experience working for a domain registrar or web hosting company.
• Ability to learn unfamiliar technical systems and products quickly.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position requiring approximately 40 hours per week.

Available Shift: Friday through Tuesday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM Pacific Time.

Saturday and Sunday availability is mandatory for this position.

Each eight-hour shift includes a total of one hour of paid breaks.

Compensation

The starting salary for this position is $40,000 per year.

Candidates with multiple years of professional experience working for a domain registrar or hosting company may be considered for a higher starting salary.
