Design System Designer
Mayflower is hiring a remote Design System Designer to help evolve and maintain a scalable design system used across large-scale entertainment products serving millions of users worldwide. Job Overview
As a Design System Designer, you’ll contribute to the ongoing evolution of the company’s design system across Figma, Storybook, and frontend implementation. You’ll work closely with designers and engineers to improve consistency, scalability, documentation, and design-to-code workflows while helping shape reusable UI foundations for multiple product teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and evolve the company’s existing design system across Figma, Storybook, and production code.
- Design and refine reusable UI components including buttons, inputs, form controls, patterns, and shared interface elements.
- Expand and improve a scalable design token architecture supporting themes and component consistency.
- Strengthen alignment between Figma libraries, frontend implementation, and Storybook documentation.
- Improve design-to-development workflows using Figma Variables, Tokens Studio, Style Dictionary, and CI/CD processes.
- Support migration toward a token-driven design system.
- Create and maintain contribution guidelines and design system standards.
- Produce documentation that makes the system easy for designers and developers to understand.
- Explore AI-assisted workflows and machine-readable design system practices.
- Collaborate closely with frontend engineers and product designers on implementation standards.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience working with design systems, design engineering, or similar roles.
- Advanced expertise with Figma, including Variables, Auto Layout, Component Properties, and shared libraries.
- Strong understanding of frontend technologies including CSS Custom Properties, SCSS, and basic JavaScript.
- Hands-on Storybook experience, including documenting component states and variants.
- Experience using token management tools such as Style Dictionary, Tokens Studio, or similar platforms.
- Strong systems-thinking mindset.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with both designers and frontend engineers.
- Practical approach to creating scalable and maintainable design solutions.
