UX Designer – Healthcare Platform & Design Systems

PressW is seeking an experienced UX Designer to lead the complete user experience redesign of a large healthcare scheduling platform used by hundreds of thousands of workers and more than 1,000 healthcare facilities. This full-time remote opportunity allows you to influence every stage of the product lifecycle—from research and workflow discovery to design systems, usability testing, and production rollout.

This position begins before frontend development starts, giving you the opportunity to shape product direction through research, customer insights, workflow analysis, and close collaboration with engineering and product teams.

Job Overview

As the UX Designer, you will own the end-to-end experience for both worker-facing and administrator-facing applications. You will research existing workflows, identify usability challenges, design intuitive interfaces, contribute to API discussions from a user perspective, establish scalable design systems, and validate solutions through continuous usability testing.

This role requires someone who enjoys solving complex workflow problems, collaborating with engineering teams, and designing products that improve operational efficiency while delivering exceptional user experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead user research and platform workflow analysis before product development begins.
  • Audit existing user journeys and identify usability issues and improvement opportunities.
  • Partner with customer success and product teams to understand customer pain points.
  • Provide UX guidance that influences backend API design decisions.
  • Design complete user experiences for both mobile and web applications.
  • Create intuitive experiences for healthcare workers, administrators, and operational teams.
  • Design scheduling, messaging, reporting, compliance, notifications, and administrative workflows.
  • Create wireframes, user flows, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs.
  • Develop and maintain a scalable design system and reusable component library.
  • Establish responsive design standards across web and mobile platforms.
  • Ensure accessibility standards meet WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines.
  • Conduct usability testing throughout implementation and rollout.
  • Analyze user feedback and continuously improve designs.
  • Present UX research findings and design recommendations to engineering and client stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Professional UX design experience across web and mobile applications.
  • Experience conducting user research and translating findings into product improvements.
  • Experience designing workflow-intensive software such as scheduling, operations, administration, or enterprise applications.
  • Experience modernizing or redesigning legacy software platforms.
  • Understanding of REST APIs and how backend architecture influences user experience.
  • Strong proficiency with Figma or similar UX design software.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to explain and defend UX decisions to engineering and business stakeholders.
  • Evidence of meaningful UX work shipped within the past two years.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Healthcare software or regulated-industry design experience.
  • Ownership of enterprise design systems and component libraries.
  • Experience implementing WCAG accessibility standards.
  • Experience using AI-powered design tools for rapid prototyping.
  • Experience collaborating closely with software engineers throughout product development.
