Senior Technical Accountant – US GAAP and Financial Reporting
Webflow is hiring a Senior Technical Accountant to manage complex accounting matters, support financial reporting, and strengthen scalable close and control processes. This full-time, permanent position is remote-first within the United States and reports to the Senior Manager of Technical Accounting.
The role focuses on technical accounting areas including stock-based compensation, equity modifications, internally developed software, capitalized commissions, intangible assets, and leases. The successful candidate will research accounting guidance, document defensible conclusions, prepare audit-ready financial statements, and collaborate with Accounting, FP&A, Legal, People, and external audit partners.
Job Overview
The Senior Technical Accountant will own several of Webflow’s most complex accounting positions and related month-end close responsibilities. You will interpret U.S. GAAP, prepare supporting calculations and journal entries, maintain account reconciliations, and document conclusions for complex transactions and new accounting standards.
This position requires strong technical accounting knowledge, financial statement preparation experience, an active CPA license, and the ability to explain complicated accounting matters clearly to both accounting and cross-functional stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Own technical accounting areas including internally developed software, stock-based compensation, equity modifications, intangible assets, and leases.
- Ensure assigned accounting treatments and positions comply with U.S. GAAP.
- Manage month-end close activities for technical accounting areas.
- Prepare supporting calculations and record related journal entries.
- Perform account reconciliations and period-over-period fluctuation analyses.
- Identify and implement process improvements that help shorten and strengthen the financial close cycle.
- Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Complete financial statement tie-outs for the income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement, and statement of stockholders’ equity.
- Prepare financial statement footnotes, supporting schedules, and disclosure checklists.
- Research and interpret accounting guidance for complex transactions and newly issued accounting standards.
- Write technical accounting memoranda and other documentation supporting accounting conclusions.
- Partner with internal management and external auditors to obtain agreement on technical accounting positions.
- Conduct walkthroughs with auditors and cross-functional business partners.
- Help ensure financial reporting is complete, accurate, timely, and compliant.
- Support the design, development, and testing of internal controls.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- At least 60 months of public accounting experience.
- Strong technical accounting and financial reporting knowledge.
- Active Certified Public Accountant license.
- Fluency in U.S. GAAP.
- Experience researching and documenting complex accounting matters.
- Experience preparing financial statements and related disclosures.
- Ability to translate technical accounting guidance into clear and actionable recommendations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across accounting and non-accounting functions.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-moving environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Public accounting experience with a Big Four accounting firm.
- Knowledge of both private-company and public-company reporting requirements.
- Experience using NetSuite.
- Experience using Workiva.
- Experience supporting audit readiness and external audit processes.
- Interest in using artificial intelligence and emerging technologies to improve accounting work, speed, and quality.

Compensation
Webflow uses geographic compensation zones for this position. The annual base salary ranges are:
- Zone A: $129,500 to $155,000.
- Zone B: $121,500 to $146,000.
- Zone C: $113,000 to $136,000.
The specific base salary will depend on the candidate’s work location, relevant experience, knowledge, qualifications, and skills. Candidates should confirm the geographic pay zone for their location with the recruiter.
This role is also eligible for Webflow’s company-wide bonus program. Target bonus amounts vary by career level and are based on company performance against established financial and operational goals.
