Senior Frontend Software Engineer

Job Overview

As a Senior Frontend Software Engineer, you will lead the development of high-impact web features from concept through deployment. You’ll work on large-scale frontend architecture, mentor engineers, improve developer workflows, and help deliver engaging user experiences that serve Reddit’s global audience.

This position is ideal for an experienced frontend engineer who enjoys building modern web applications, solving performance challenges, and working within highly collaborative product teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and launch frontend features for Reddit’s Home Experience.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and cross-functional teams throughout the development lifecycle.
• Write, review, and maintain high-quality, scalable frontend code.
• Participate in technical design discussions and provide feedback on architecture and product specifications.
• Improve engineering standards, development workflows, and coding best practices.
• Mentor fellow engineers and support technical growth across the team.
• Help define project roadmaps and technical priorities alongside engineering leadership.
• Promote operational excellence through observability, monitoring, and performance optimization.
• Support experimentation, product analysis, and successful feature rollouts.
• Contribute to frontend architecture capable of supporting large-scale web traffic.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 72 months of professional frontend software development experience.
• Strong experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, and modern ECMAScript standards.
• Experience building applications using React or other modern frontend frameworks such as Vue, Angular, LIT, or Polymer.
• Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, and responsive web development.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills.
• Strong focus on user experience, usability, and product quality.
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders in a distributed environment.
• Experience working independently while collaborating across remote engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with GraphQL, REST APIs, HTTP protocols, or Thrift.
• Knowledge of scalable frontend architecture supporting high-traffic web applications.
• Experience designing maintainable API integrations.
• Background building consumer-facing or social platform experiences.
• Experience working within fast-paced, product-driven engineering environments.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $190,800 to $267,100, depending on experience, skills, and location.
