Position Summary

The Specimen Accessioner plays a crucial role in LabCorp’s Specimen Processing and Accessioning team. This position involves preparing, sorting, and entering data for clinical specimens in a high-volume, fast-paced laboratory setting. The role ensures specimens are accurately identified, properly labeled, and efficiently routed for testing.

Key Impact

  • Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
  • Unpack, sort, and route specimens to designated staging areas
  • Accurately identify and label specimens
  • Pack and ship specimens to the appropriate testing facilities
  • Maintain department productivity and activity goals
  • Properly store excess specimen samples
  • Enter patient information accurately and promptly into systems
  • Document and resolve any specimen-related issues

Best Candidate

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-2+ years of relevant experience in lab accessioning, production, manufacturing, or warehouse environments (preferred but not required)
  • Previous medical or laboratory experience is a plus
  • Comfortable handling of biological specimens
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Able to lift to 40 lbs and pass a standardized color-blind test
