Remote Senior DevOps Engineer

Job Overview

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will take ownership of build and release pipelines used by engineering teams across the organization. Your work will include designing CI/CD infrastructure, automating testing and deployment workflows, monitoring pipeline health, troubleshooting complex failures, and supporting incident response for business-critical services.

You will contribute to a highly available cloud platform where reliable delivery systems are essential to product performance and customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain reliable CI/CD pipelines for software applications.
• Develop automation for build, test, release, and deployment workflows.
• Manage CI/CD infrastructure and tooling using platforms such as GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, or TeamCity.
• Monitor pipeline availability, performance, and failure rates.
• Improve operational metrics including mean time to detection and mean time to recovery.
• Investigate build failures, dependency conflicts, and production deployment issues.
• Participate in incident response, debugging, and root cause analysis.
• Use Infrastructure as Code and automation tools to improve consistency and scalability.
• Collaborate with product engineers, platform teams, and SRE professionals.
• Create clear technical documentation, runbooks, and troubleshooting guides.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 84 months of experience in DevOps, cloud platform engineering, or production operations.
• At least 36 months of experience with Git-based version control platforms.
• Strong hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, TeamCity, or similar build systems.
• Experience designing and managing automated build and deployment pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of Terraform, Ansible, Python, Bash, or comparable automation technologies.
• Working knowledge of Kubernetes, Helm, and Docker.
• Strong Linux system administration and performance troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to diagnose pipeline failures and resolve dependency-related issues.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Spinnaker, or Harness.
• Background working across multiple public cloud providers.
• Experience with observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog.
• Knowledge of secrets management, container scanning, and cloud-native security practices.
• Experience supporting large-scale SaaS or business-critical cloud platforms.

Work Arrangement

This position is fully remote for candidates who live more than 30 miles from a Five9 office. Candidates located within 30 miles of an office may be required to work onsite three days per week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
