The Role
Volvo Bus is seeking a skilled and proactive Service Support Technician (PSV) to strengthen its Service Market team. This role focuses on supporting the Volvo dealer network with pre-delivery inspections (PDIs), repairs, diagnostics, and technical expertise. The position also covers work on used vehicles, on-site problem-solving, and contributing to cost efficiency without compromising Volvo’s high-quality standards.
Reporting directly to the Service Manager – UK & Ireland, the successful candidate will collaborate with technical experts, dealer partners, bodybuilders, and wider support teams to deliver a seamless service experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform PDIs on new vehicles and complete required repairs.
- Provide on-site technical support for dealers and customers.
- Inspect, maintain, and rectify issues on used vehicles.
- Fit additional vehicle equipment (CCTV, USB ports, monitors, etc.).
- Assist with storage, vehicle movement, and preparation tasks.
- Conduct bodybuilder quality inspections and report findings.
- Support diagnostics, investigations, and rectifications on-site.
- Contribute to cost management while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have a PSV or HGV truck background with practical workshop experience and a strong interest in a more customer-facing role. They should be proactive, problem-solving, and eager to make a difference to customers while combining technical expertise with direct support.
Requirements:
- Full UK driving licence (PSV licence desirable but not essential).
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, including reading schematics.
- Experience with electrical wiring and diagnostic tools.
- Excellent manual repair/testing skills and attention to detail.
- Organisational and teamwork abilities.
- Knowledge of contractual obligations and ability to interpret technical wording.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to continuous learning of Volvo products and evolving industry standards.
