Role Overview

Allianz UK is seeking an experienced Actuary to join its central finance function. The role sits at the heart of financial performance oversight and supports key business decisions across Motor’s lines of business. The Actuary will lead reserving activity, contribute to business planning, and work closely with cross-functional teams. In addition, the role includes mentoring and supporting junior actuarial colleagues.

Core Responsibilities

Financial Reserving and Planning

The Actuary will review the production, monitoring, and communication of quarterly reserves for Motor portfolios. They will also oversee actuarial input into annual business planning and regular forecasting cycles.

Portfolio Performance and Stakeholder Engagement

The role requires close partnership with Finance, Pricing, and Underwriting teams. Through this collaboration, the Actuary will monitor portfolio performance and profitability while influencing key stakeholders, including portfolio managers, business finance managers, and claims leaders.

Collaboration and External Relationships

Strong relationships will be built within the actuarial function. The Actuary will also work with external stakeholders, including auditors, to ensure accuracy, transparency, and compliance.

Team Development and Leadership

The position includes mentoring and coaching junior team members. While not mandatory, leadership experience in developing and motivating talent is highly valued.

Candidate Background

Essential Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate is a qualified Actuary holding Fellowship with the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries or an equivalent body. They bring solid insurance experience in reserving, pricing, or capital modelling. Familiarity with actuarial software and modelling techniques is essential.

Technical and Communication Skills

Strong Excel skills are required, along with Python coding experience. The successful candidate communicates clearly and confidently at all levels of seniority. They build trust, influence effectively, and contribute positively across teams.

Desirable Attributes

Leadership exposure is considered an advantage, particularly experience in attracting, developing, and retaining high-performing actuarial talent.
