Role Overview

The Procurement Specialist will oversee purchasing activities, ensuring that goods and services are delivered on time and in accordance with requirements. This position supports business units by coordinating with internal departments, maintaining accurate documentation, and facilitating smooth procurement operations. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and clear communication are essential for success in this role.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Order Management

  • Create and process purchase orders, confirm delivery schedules, and ensure timely receipt of goods and services.
  • Follow up with suppliers on orders and handle any required changes.

Supplier Coordination

  • Maintain ongoing communication with suppliers and resolve basic delivery, quantity, or invoicing issues.

Documentation & Data Management

  • Keep procurement records accurate in SAP and other systems.
  • Support invoice processing and goods receipt documentation.

Internal Collaboration

  • Assist departments such as logistics, finance, and operations with order status updates and general procurement support.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare regular reports on order status, supplier performance, and procurement activities.
  • Analyze cost structures and identify opportunities for savings or process improvements.

Required Candidate Profile

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency in SAP and MS Office
  • Strong analytical skills and affinity for numbers
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
  • Ability to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve procurement processes
  • English language proficiency

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of German
  • Experience in the automotive industry or within Volkswagen Group companies

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Industrial Engineering, Economics, or a related field
  • 5–7 years of relevant procurement experience

Work Flexibility & Travel

  • Standard 8 to 5 Pacific schedule
  • Approximately 5% travel
  • Role primarily onsite in Belmont, CA, with possible remote flexibility by agreement
