Strategic Technology Consultant – Clinical Analytics & Data Platform

Medtronic is seeking a Strategic Technology Consultant to provide senior-level leadership for clinical research data platforms, analytics capabilities, and reporting solutions. This remote position supports the modernization of clinical data environments while helping transform research information into meaningful insights for business and clinical stakeholders.

The role combines technical strategy, clinical research expertise, cloud data architecture, governance, and cross-functional collaboration to improve decision-making across clinical development programs.

Job Overview

As a Strategic Technology Consultant, you will guide the evolution of clinical analytics platforms, oversee scalable data products, and support the adoption of modern cloud-based technologies. You will collaborate with business leaders, IT teams, enterprise architects, and clinical stakeholders to develop secure, compliant, and high-quality data solutions that improve operational visibility and clinical portfolio management.

This position requires extensive experience in clinical research data, cloud technologies, regulatory compliance, and enterprise analytics within highly regulated healthcare environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategy, evolution, and adoption of enterprise clinical data and analytics platforms.
  • Develop scalable clinical data products, semantic models, and reporting structures.
  • Apply CDISC standards, including SDTM, ADaM, and USDM, within clinical analytics environments.
  • Partner with enterprise architecture and IT teams to support AWS-based clinical data platforms.
  • Support modernization initiatives, including legacy system migration and interoperability improvements.
  • Ensure analytics solutions meet security, privacy, validation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Guide development of clinical operational dashboards, reports, and business analytics.
  • Establish standards for data quality, consistency, governance, and reusable reporting assets.
  • Enable self-service analytics through curated datasets and standardized data structures.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable technology solutions for clinical organizations.
  • Support platform validation, pilot projects, implementation activities, and user adoption.
  • Participate in vendor evaluations, technology planning, and investment recommendations.
  • Provide leadership for data governance, traceability, documentation, and inspection readiness.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 120 months of experience in clinical research data and analytics, or an advanced degree with at least 96 months of related experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of CDISC standards, including SDTM, ADaM, and USDM.
  • Experience working with cloud-based clinical data platforms, preferably AWS.
  • Experience operating in regulated clinical or healthcare environments.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical business solutions.
  • Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional technical and business teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or another quantitative discipline.
  • Strong understanding of clinical trial operations and decision-support processes.
  • Experience modernizing legacy clinical reporting and analytics platforms.
  • Knowledge of SQL-based environments and business intelligence platforms including SQL Server and Power BI.
  • Working knowledge of ICH, GCP, FDA, and 21 CFR Part 11 requirements.
  • Experience leading enterprise platform transformation initiatives.
  • Background within medical device, pharmaceutical, or CRO organizations.
  • Experience operating as a senior principal-level individual contributor.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $166,400 to $249,600.

The role is also eligible for the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). Compensation is determined by factors including experience, education, certifications, market conditions, and work location.
