About the Role

GE Vernova is hiring a Lead Logistics Project Manager to manage regional logistics projects and support outbound global shipments to customers. This role focuses on transportation planning, shipment visibility, cost control, freight coordination, customs support, and logistics strategy.

The position is ideal for an experienced logistics or supply chain professional who can manage complex shipments, coordinate with vendors and freight partners, reduce transportation costs, and keep project teams informed throughout the shipment lifecycle.

You will work closely with buyers, project managers, vendors, carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal stakeholders to ensure shipments are delivered accurately, on time, and in a cost-effective manner.

Key Responsibilities

Logistics Project Management

  • Manage regional logistics project portfolios from planning through delivery
  • Support outbound global logistics activities for customer shipments
  • Maintain shipment schedules, project plans, and freight estimates
  • Act as the logistics point of contact for customer-facing project teams
  • Keep stakeholders informed about shipment status, risks, costs, and delivery timelines

Transportation Planning & Cost Control

  • Identify cost-effective transportation options across ocean, air, road, rail, and specialized freight
  • Conduct RFQs and provide cost and cycle-time scenarios for internal teams
  • Support landed cost estimates during sales, project, and operational planning cycles
  • Track project budgets, logistics costs, and estimate-at-completion details
  • Help reduce demurrage, detention, leakage, and avoidable freight expenses

Carrier, Vendor & Freight Coordination

  • Coordinate with buyers, vendors, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers
  • Monitor purchase orders and shipment exceptions
  • Resolve transportation, customs, and delivery issues quickly
  • Maintain strong working relationships with logistics service providers
  • Assist with domestic freight contract negotiations when needed

Shipment Documentation & Compliance

  • Review commercial invoices, packing slips, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and related shipment documents
  • Ensure import and export documents are accurate and available on time
  • Support compliance with customs, regulatory, and internal standards
  • Assist with audits, reporting, records, and shipment documentation processes
  • Reconcile discrepancies related to purchase orders, invoices, and shipment records

Inventory, Reporting & Process Improvement

  • Maintain shipment status reports and in-transit inventory updates
  • Record shipment details accurately in applicable systems and tools
  • Track logistics KPIs, identify performance trends, and support corrective actions
  • Contribute to process improvements that improve delivery accuracy and cost efficiency
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality or logistics escalations

Skills & Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • 5+ years of experience in logistics, project management, supply chain, or transportation operations
  • Experience coordinating shipments with carriers, vendors, freight forwarders, or customs brokers
  • Strong planning, organization, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote or hybrid environment
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to manage shipment data, project updates, and logistics reporting accurately

Preferred Qualifications

  • International logistics experience, including transportation, customs, trade compliance, and supply chain standards
  • Experience with roll-on/roll-off, break bulk, specialized trucking, rail, ocean freight, or air freight
  • Knowledge of free trade agreements, import/export requirements, and global logistics risks
  • Advanced English communication skills; additional language skills are a plus
  • Experience working in matrixed, cross-functional business environments
  • Strong facilitation and leadership skills
  • Proven ability to deliver results under deadlines and changing priorities
