Role Purpose and Impact
Wise is seeking a FinCrime Operations Analyst to join its Sanctions Screening team in Budapest. This role plays a critical part in protecting both customers and the organization by ensuring full compliance with international sanctions regulations. The analyst supports Wise’s mission by identifying potential sanctions risks while also contributing to a smooth customer experience.
Core Responsibility Areas
Sanctions Alert Review and Analysis
The analyst reviews alerts generated by internal sanctions screening systems. Each alert requires careful evaluation against global sanctions lists and precise documentation of the decision logic.
Customer Due Diligence Support
When required, the analyst communicates directly with customers to collect additional information. This ensures accurate assessments and supports compliant decision-making.
Risk Escalation and Reporting
Potentially high-risk cases are escalated in accordance with internal guidelines. This includes identifying scenarios that may trigger reporting obligations.
Process and System Improvement
The role contributes insights to improve automated screening models. This helps reduce false positives, strengthen risk controls, and enhance customer experience.
Ownership and Collaboration
The analyst takes full responsibility for assigned cases and actively supports team knowledge sharing, internal projects, and operational improvements.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Work Eligibility and Availability
The candidate must be eligible to work in Hungary, as visa sponsorship is not available. Flexibility is essential, as shifts include afternoons and four weekend shifts per month.
Skills and Personal Attributes
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong analytical thinking and exceptional attention to detail. They approach information with curiosity while remaining focused on relevant facts. Clear written and verbal communication skills in English are essential, especially in cross-team environments.

Experience and Knowledge
