Role Overview

The Construction Project Development Manager will take ownership of some of Electrify America’s most visible and customer-valued infrastructure investments. This role supports a long-term charging deployment program spanning more than 10 years, with an annual budget of approximately $200 million.

The role focuses on managing the local execution of multiple electric vehicle charging infrastructure projects across Southern California. Projects will span metro regions and national highway corridors. The manager will lead vendors and contractors through site acquisition, design coordination, construction, commissioning, and closeout across commercial, retail, municipal, and multiple locations.

Core Responsibilities and Focus Areas

  • EV Infrastructure Project Delivery

The role leads planning, coordination, and execution of regional EV charging deployment programs across urban and highway locations.

  • Vendor and Contractor Oversight

The manager oversees service providers and construction partners to ensure compliance with timelines, budgets, safety requirements, and quality standards.

  • On-Site Project Leadership

Frequent travel to active project locations supports site selection, construction oversight, stakeholder coordination, and progress documentation.

  • Digital Project Management and Reporting

The role relies on project management software to track schedules, equipment inventory, delivery timelines, cost controls, and documentation.

  • Program Performance and Scheduling

Monthly schedules are developed for each project and partner. Clear progress updates are shared with Metro and Highway Network program leaders to identify risks early.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

Close coordination with Partnership Development and Real Estate teams supports engagement with utilities, property owners, planning departments, and local policy stakeholders.

  • Equipment Forecasting and Cost Control

The manager maintains accurate forecasts of equipment needs and supports inventory planning while benchmarking vendor costs to drive efficiency gains.

  • Project Closeout and Compliance

The role ensures all QAQC documentation is complete before vendor payment approval and aligns closely with finance and audit teams.

  • Stakeholder Representation

The manager represents Electrify America at regional events, conferences, workshops, and public forums as required.

The ideal candidate is an experienced construction-focused project manager with strong leadership skills and the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously. This professional operates independently, communicates clearly with diverse stakeholders, and maintains strong attention to detail across all project phases.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience is required.
  • A minimum of seven years of relevant project management experience is required.
  • A Project Management Professional certification is required.
  • Experience with Primavera, Microsoft Project, or similar tools is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary varies based on location, experience, skills, and credentials. For California-based candidates, the salary range is $101,800 to $162,850, plus a competitive benefits package and growth opportunities.
