Deputy CAD Administrator – Engineering Design Systems
Hanson Professional Services is hiring a Deputy CAD Administrator to help maintain, support, and improve the company’s computer-aided design (CAD) environment. This full-time opportunity is available from multiple U.S. office locations with remote and hybrid work options.
The position supports engineering and design teams by maintaining CAD standards, assisting users, coordinating software administration, improving workflows, and ensuring consistent design practices across projects.
Job Overview
Working alongside the CAD Administrator, you will help manage CAD technologies, provide technical support, maintain standards, coordinate software deployments, and improve design workflows across multidisciplinary engineering projects.
This role is well suited for experienced CAD professionals who enjoy combining technical expertise with user support, process improvement, and engineering collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining company CAD standards, templates, libraries, and best practices.
- Document CAD procedures and workflow standards.
- Support quality-control reviews for engineering deliverables.
- Provide day-to-day technical support for CAD users.
- Troubleshoot software, drawing, plotting, and file management issues.
- Configure CAD profiles, permissions, and tools for new employees.
- Support onboarding and CAD training initiatives.
- Assist with software installation, licensing, and version upgrades.
- Coordinate project setup, directory structures, and file organization.
- Support client workspace deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Evaluate new CAD software, plugins, and workflow improvements.
- Collaborate with engineering, design, and project management teams.
- Support coordination between multiple CAD and BIM platforms.
- Identify opportunities to improve automation, standardization, and workflow efficiency.
- Gather user feedback and help implement process improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher in CAD, Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5–10 years of professional CAD experience.
- Strong proficiency with MicroStation, Bentley OpenX products, and/or ProjectWise.
- Solid understanding of CAD standards, plotting, and file management.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve technical CAD issues.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and documentation abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting multiple engineering disciplines including civil, structural, electrical, or architectural teams.
- CAD or BIM administration experience.
- Experience supporting Common Data Environments (CDE).
- Knowledge of scripting, automation, or CAD customization tools.
- Experience supporting consulting or project-based engineering environments.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, or additional BIM platforms.

Compensation
Hourly Rate: USD $36–$50 per hour
Estimated Annual Salary: Approximately USD $74,880–$104,000 based on full-time employment.

Work Environment
This position may be based from any Hanson office and supports fully remote or hybrid work arrangements. You’ll work closely with engineering, drafting, BIM, and project management teams to ensure reliable, scalable CAD operations that support high-quality project delivery.
