Research Operations Specialist – AI Safety & Technical Publications
Anthropic is seeking a Research Operations Specialist to coordinate the production of technical AI safety publications and research documentation. This remote-friendly full-time position is ideal for professionals with experience in technical writing, research operations, scientific publishing, or cross-functional project management who can translate complex technical concepts into accurate, accessible documentation.
You will work alongside researchers, engineers, policy specialists, and AI safety teams to coordinate high-impact publications, maintain consistency across technical documents, and ensure projects are delivered accurately and on schedule.
Job Overview
In this role, you will oversee the planning, coordination, editing, and delivery of AI safety reports and related technical publications. You will manage timelines, coordinate contributions from multiple teams, review technical content for clarity and consistency, and ensure published materials accurately reflect research findings and organizational commitments.
The position combines project coordination, technical editing, scientific communication, and operational support for research teams working on advanced artificial intelligence systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the complete production lifecycle for technical research reports and external publications.
- Develop and manage project timelines, contributor schedules, and document tracking systems.
- Collaborate with AI researchers, engineering teams, safety specialists, and policy professionals throughout publication cycles.
- Edit and improve technical content while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and readability.
- Translate evaluation results, technical findings, and research documentation into clear language for broader audiences.
- Review reports for terminology consistency, factual accuracy, and alignment across related publications.
- Identify conflicting technical statements and coordinate clarification with subject matter experts.
- Maintain consistency between safety reports, system documentation, and related technical materials.
- Create templates, documentation standards, contributor guides, and editorial processes.
- Support additional research operations, technical writing, and publication projects as required.
- Monitor progress across multiple contributors and help resolve project bottlenecks before deadlines.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience.
- Demonstrated technical writing experience with complex technical or scientific material.
- Ability to convert technical concepts into clear, accurate, reader-friendly documentation.
- Working knowledge of large language models and modern AI concepts.
- Understanding of topics such as model pretraining, reinforcement learning from human feedback (RLHF), evaluation methodologies, context windows, red teaming, and AI capability assessment.
- Ability to interpret technical reports, evaluation results, and supporting data.
- Experience coordinating projects involving multiple contributors and strict delivery deadlines.
- Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to document quality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience coordinating technical or scientific publications.
- Background in AI safety, AI policy, alignment research, cybersecurity, national security, or threat modeling.
- Experience producing safety documentation, compliance reports, scientific reports, or regulatory publications.
- Experience with research publishing, technical journalism, or science communication.
- Strong project management experience across cross-functional technical teams.
- Ability to evaluate charts, tables, and technical visualizations for clarity and accuracy.
- Experience producing polished long-form documents such as white papers, research reports, standards, or regulatory filings.
- Comfort using modern AI tools responsibly to improve productivity while maintaining independent editorial judgment.
Work Arrangement
- Full-time employment.
- Remote-friendly position within the United States.
- Employees are expected to spend at least 25% of their working time in an Anthropic office under the current hybrid policy.

Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary range for this position is $260,000 to $310,000 USD. Final compensation depends on qualifications, experience, work location, and other job-related factors.
