Position Summary
The Department of the Army invites applications for the role of Tools and Parts Attendant within the 99th Readiness Division at Equipment Concentration Site 93, Fort Eustis. Core Responsibilities
Inventory Management and Record Keeping
The incumbent maintains issue and turn-in records, either manually or through electronic systems. In addition, the role requires conducting periodic inventories to ensure accountability and accurate stock levels.
Storage and Materials Handling
The position supports the organized storage and arrangement of tools, parts, and materials. Through careful handling and placement, the attendant ensures efficient access and preservation of equipment.
Inspection and Maintenance
The selected candidate inspects tools and parts to verify quality, condition, and overall performance. Minor maintenance tasks are performed as necessary to preserve equipment functionality and readiness.
Employment Conditions
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination based on the results of a background investigation.
This position requires:
- Active membership as a Soldier in the United States Army Reserve
- A medical examination before employment
- A valid state driver’s license
- Completion of a personnel security investigation
Occasional travel may be required, estimated at approximately five percent. Relocation expenses may be authorized if determined to be in the Government’s best interest.
Eligibility and Qualifications
Applicant Eligibility

Experience Requirements
There is no prescribed length of experience required. However, applicants must demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of a Tools and Parts Attendant without more than normal supervision.
Qualified candidates must show experience or demonstrated ability in the following areas:
- Identifying tools or equipment for intended use
- Maintaining inventory levels
- Performing minor maintenance on equipment or vehicles
Failure to demonstrate this capability will result in an ineligible rating.
Both paid and unpaid experience will be considered, including volunteer service through recognized national service programs and other civic or professional organizations.
Physical Demands
Work is performed on hard surfaces and often requires standing, bending, stooping, and working in physically demanding positions. The attendant frequently lifts and carries tools, parts, supplies, and equipment weighing up to forty pounds. Equipment such as hand trucks, dollies, and forklifts is available to assist with heavier loads.
Work Environment
Duties are performed in a well-lit, heated storage area, though conditions may occasionally be drafty or noisy. While the workspace is generally clean, there is some risk of minor cuts or bruises during daily operations.

There is no formal education requirement for this position.
Additional Employment Information
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must certify registration with the Selective Service.
The selected candidate must provide proof of United States citizenship. A one-year trial or probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is mandatory.

This position falls within the Logistics Career Field. Multiple selections may be made from this announcement. The local prevailing rate determines salary.
Permanent Change of Station allowances may be authorized in accordance with applicable travel regulations and agency determination. In certain cases, new Army Reserve Military Technicians may qualify for moving expense reimbursement to their first official duty station.
