Role Overview

The Service Leader ensures that guests receive safe, high-quality food in a welcoming environment. This position plays a critical role in upholding service standards while supporting and guiding the restaurant crew.

The individual in this role remains actively engaged on the restaurant floor during scheduled shifts, unless on break. When operations are steady, the Service Leader proactively identifies areas that require attention and supports team members in maintaining efficiency and service excellence.

Core Responsibilities

Food Quality and Safety Oversight

The Service Leader ensures that food is prepared and served in accordance with company standards. Responsibilities include addressing food quality concerns and reinforcing strict food safety practices. This includes monitoring handwashing compliance, glove changes, time and temperature controls, secondary shelf life standards, and adherence to daily food safety checklists.

By consistently applying these standards, the Service Leader protects both guests and the brand’s reputation.

Guest Experience Management

Maintaining a positive dining experience remains a central priority. The Service Leader helps resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally, ensuring that each interaction reflects Chipotle’s commitment to hospitality and integrity.

Team Leadership and Development

The role involves supporting shift operations, including monitoring crew breaks, coordinating shift transitions, facilitating shift meetings, and overseeing line schedules.

In addition, the Service Leader develops crew members, contributes to performance evaluations, and mentors high-potential employees to prepare them for future leadership roles.

Operational and Administrative Support

The Service Leader assists with essential administrative tasks, including banking procedures, cash handling responsibilities, and maintaining office documentation. Furthermore, the role ensures that office equipment remains functional and that necessary supplies are ordered and stocked appropriately.

Through diligent oversight, the Service Leader contributes to smooth daily operations and financial accuracy.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong understanding of Chipotle’s Food With Integrity philosophy and can clearly communicate its principles. In addition, the candidate brings practical knowledge of cash-handling procedures and food-safety regulations.

  • Prior restaurant experience
  • Familiarity with office documentation and operational paperwork
  • The ability to read, write, speak, and understand the primary language of the work location
  • Awareness of health department standards and compliance practices

Compensation and Benefits

Chipotle offers competitive base pay ranging from $19.05 to $21.19 per hour, plus eligibility for digital tips. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and education.
