Role Overview
The Business Consultant – Employee Benefits (EB) Underwriting Best Practices will play a pivotal role in strengthening the underwriting function. This position focuses on designing clear, compliant, and executable processes that enhance efficiency, consistency, and risk management. The consultant will work closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring smooth integration of system enhancements, pricing tools, and underwriting guidelines, while driving continuous improvement across operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Pricing Tool & System Enhancement
- Review and assess upcoming pricing tool and system enhancements.
- Collaborate with technical teams during prioritization meetings and sprint reviews.
- Support user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Update user guides and communicate changes effectively.
2. Process Improvement
- Identify and implement improvements in underwriting workflows.
- Advocate for the Voice of Customer (VOC) in all process changes.
- Lead and support projects that enhance efficiency and accuracy in underwriting operations.
3. Change & Project Management
- Evaluate end-to-end business impacts of product, system, and compliance changes.
- Create concise communications and best practice guides for underwriters.
- Facilitate collaboration between underwriting and other departments, presenting recommendations to leadership.
4. Quality & Compliance
- Maintain accuracy and ease of use in underwriting guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with state regulations to support profitable growth.
- Conduct audits and collaborate with stakeholders to keep guidelines current.
- Resolve procedural inconsistencies and manage best practice documentation.
Candidate Profile
Education & Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Group Products and Business Areas; GB Underwriting experience preferred.
- Proven ability to analyze data, solve problems, and evaluate the accuracy of information.
- Strong background in technical writing and process documentation.

- Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills.
