Position Summary
The Members and Circles Lounge Bartender supports premium hospitality services within private lounge environments reserved for Members, Circles patrons, and VIP guests. This role contributes directly to refined guest experiences before performances and during intermissions. The position requires a service professional who remains polished, attentive, and composed during fast-paced performance service windows while upholding standards of inclusion and hospitality.
The bartender also supports the organization’s patron engagement goals by delivering consistent and memorable service that strengthens relationships with loyal supporters of the performing arts.
Core Service Responsibilities
Guest Experience and Beverage Service
- Welcomes Members and Circles guests with professionalism and warmth
- Prepares and serves wine, beer, cocktails, Champagne, and non alcoholic beverages
- Provides knowledgeable recommendations regarding beverage offerings
- Maintains an inviting and comfortable lounge atmosphere during pre-show and intermission periods
- Anticipates guest needs and delivers attentive, discreet service
Bar Operations and Setup
- Completes full bar setup and breakdown for each service period
- Supports beverage service in the trustees’ box during VIP attendance when required
- Restocks wine, spirits, mixers, glassware, tools, and supplies
- Maintains a clean, orderly, and visually polished bar environment
Compliance and Coordination
- Follows responsible alcohol service practices and ID verification procedures
- Communicates inventory needs, operational concerns, and guest feedback to the Lounge Manager
- Works independently while also supporting team operations
- Maintains professional appearance, discretion, and cultural awareness at all times

Perfect Candidate Profile
Experience and Skills
- Previous bartending or hospitality experience is preferred, although training is available.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Capacity to learn wine, spirits, and cocktail knowledge through structured training
- Ability to remain organized and efficient during high-volume service periods
- A professional demeanor, genuine commitment to the guest experience, and interest in the performing arts are beneficial.
Physical and Work Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended service periods
- Capability to lift and transport between 30 and 50 pounds, including cases of beverages and glassware
- Comfort with frequent movement, bending, reaching, carrying, and repetitive tasks
- Must reside locally or be willing to relocate to the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Relocation support is not provided
- Must be willing to work fully on-site
Work Schedule
Service shifts primarily occur in the evenings and on weekends. Scheduling aligns with performance times, rehearsals, and special Member events.
Compensation and Pay Structure
The projected pay rate for this role is $17.95 per hour. The organization designs compensation programs with equity in mind, and pay structures may be adjusted in the future to align with operational needs.
