At its Dublin office, SAP is looking for a seasoned Lead Senior Legal Counsel to join its administration division and provide strategic legal leadership across multiple business domains.

Role Overview

The Lead Senior Legal Counsel will serve as the chief legal representative for SAP Ireland Limited, guiding the executive management team on all legal, regulatory, and compliance matters. Working closely with the Ireland Leadership team and global legal counterparts, this role demands strategic vision, legal acumen, and an ability to manage complex corporate and commercial challenges.

Core Responsibilities

1. Strategic Legal Leadership

  • Act as a trusted legal advisor to SAP Ireland’s Executive Management team, including the Managing Director and CFO.
  • Represent SAP Ireland on the Tech Adoption, Managed Service Partner (MSP), and SAP Store Leadership teams, aligning legal strategy with business priorities.

2. Business and Commercial Support

  • Oversee legal support for key deals, collaborating with sales and partner management teams to optimize contract processes.
  • Provide legal training to sales teams and handle high-level contract escalations.

3. Compliance and Governance

  • Ensure full compliance with Irish legal and regulatory frameworks, encompassing data privacy, consumer protection, competition law, and corporate law.
  • Partner with SAP’s Office of Ethics and Compliance to maintain integrity standards and oversee internal investigations.

4. People & Partnership Management

  • Mentor and develop the local legal team supporting SAP Ireland’s commercial operations.
  • Manage external counsel relationships and lead dispute resolution initiatives.

5. Corporate Integration & Strategic Advisory

  • Support the integration of acquired entities into SAP’s Ireland operations from a legal and corporate governance perspective.
  • Ensure that legal implications are considered in all business strategies and that transactions comply with SAP’s global compliance policies and regulations.

6. Representation & External Relations

  • Confidently represent SAP Ireland in external forums, industry unions, and with public institutions, reflecting strategic legal insight and corporate gravitas.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Educational & Professional Background

  • Law degree with qualifications to practice (or ability and commitment to qualify) in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 10 years post-qualification commercial legal experience, preferably within multinational corporate or technology sectors.

Technical Expertise

  • Proficient in Contract, IT, and Data Protection law.
  • Experienced in negotiating complex commercial contracts (software, services, and cloud).
  • Skilled in managing corporate governance, compliance, and dispute resolution.

  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence at executive levels.
  • Demonstrated leadership in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
