About the Opportunity
EPAM Systems is hiring a Senior Python Back-End Developer to help build secure, scalable systems supporting cryptocurrency trading, custody, and settlement.
This is a remote position available only to candidates working from within Ukraine. The role focuses on Python back-end development, distributed systems, blockchain integrations, crypto APIs, microservices, databases, and infrastructure used by digital-asset platforms.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate with engineering teams and stakeholders to develop new products and features.
- Build software solutions based on defined business requirements.
- Create technical specifications covering architecture, technology choices, workflows, and coding standards.
- Present implementation details to engineering leadership and senior technical stakeholders.
- Develop unit and integration tests.
- Ensure software meets quality, security, maintainability, and extensibility requirements.
- Participate in code reviews, identify anti-patterns, and recommend refactoring improvements.
- Design and implement secure integrations with blockchain networks, cryptocurrency exchanges, and digital wallets.
- Contribute to systems supporting crypto trading, custody, and settlement.
Required Experience
Candidates need at least five years of professional software-development experience using Python.
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is required.
The role also requires knowledge of software architecture, application design, software quality assurance, and software-development lifecycle practices.
Back-End and Distributed Systems Skills
Relevant experience includes service-oriented architecture, microservices, containerized applications, SQL and NoSQL databases, RabbitMQ or Kafka, and WebSocket-based systems.
Candidates should also be familiar with Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Terraform and Helm.
Experience with Git and continuous-integration platforms such as Jenkins is required.
Blockchain and Crypto Expertise
The position requires understanding of blockchain fundamentals, cryptography, and digital assets.
Candidates should have hands-on experience integrating with crypto APIs using REST or WebSocket interfaces, smart contracts, or blockchain SDKs.
Preferred Background
Additional useful experience includes PHP, decentralized-finance protocols, Web3 frameworks, and digital custody systems.
Remote Work
This role supports remote work only from within Ukraine. EPAM also notes that employees may work from its offices or coworking spaces in Ukraine depending on preference and availability.
