Job Description

WorkinVirtual Private Limited is hiring a Software Engineer for a full-time, 100% remote position open to qualified candidates worldwide.

The Software Engineer will design, build, test, maintain, and improve software used across WorkinVirtual’s digital platform and supporting systems.

You will work across application features, backend services, APIs, databases, integrations, and user-facing functionality while helping maintain reliable and maintainable production software.

This position is suited to an engineer who can take a technical requirement from analysis through implementation, testing, review, deployment, and ongoing improvement.

Candidates should have 3–5 years of relevant professional software engineering experience.

Compensation is $35–$45 USD per hour.

This is a 100% remote worldwide opportunity requiring at least 4 hours of working-day overlap with New York / US Eastern Time (ET).

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain production software.

  • Build reliable user-facing application features.

  • Develop and maintain backend services and APIs.

  • Integrate internal and external services through secure APIs.

  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.

  • Debug application, integration, and production issues.

  • Identify technical debt and recommend practical improvements.

  • Maintain appropriate logging and error handling.

  • Work with version-control and collaborative development workflows.

  • Participate in deployment and release processes.

  • Document important technical decisions and implementation details.

  • Collaborate with product, operations, and other stakeholders.

  • Investigate defects and help resolve production issues.

  • Evaluate new technologies when they offer meaningful product or engineering benefits.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of professional software engineering or software development experience.

  • Strong software-development fundamentals.

  • Professional experience with at least one modern backend programming language such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, PHP, Java, Go, or a comparable language.

  • Experience developing web applications or software services.

  • Experience designing or consuming REST APIs.

  • Experience working with databases.

  • Familiarity with Git or another modern version-control system.

  • Understanding of testing, debugging, and software-quality practices.

  • Understanding of secure software-development principles.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to understand existing codebases and safely modify production software.

  • Clear written technical communication.

  • Ability to work independently within a distributed engineering environment.
