About the Role
As Director of Software Engineering, you will lead the Card Platform and Experiences team, driving the vision, strategy, and execution of critical payment systems. You will oversee engineering teams responsible for building scalable card infrastructure and customer-facing experiences.
This is a senior leadership role focused on delivering business impact through technology, balancing product innovation with platform scalability.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership & Vision
- Define and execute the technical vision for card platform systems and user experiences
- Hire, mentor, and lead high-performing full-stack and backend engineering teams
- Drive a culture of excellence, innovation, and accountability
Platform Development & Scalability
- Oversee development of card services, loan systems, and payment infrastructure
- Ensure systems are scalable, reliable, and capable of handling high transaction volumes
- Balance new product features with long-term platform improvements
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with product, analytics, risk, legal, and compliance teams
- Align engineering initiatives with business goals and regulatory requirements
- Influence decision-making across leadership and technical teams
Operational Excellence
- Establish strong development processes and engineering best practices
- Drive continuous improvement and experimentation within teams
- Ensure delivery of high-impact projects on time and at scale
Requirements / Skills
- 15+ years of experience in software engineering
- Strong experience leading full-stack and backend engineering teams
- Proven track record of delivering large-scale, business-critical systems
- Experience hiring, mentoring, and scaling engineering organizations
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to operate in fast-paced, high-growth environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in fintech, payments, or card systems
- Knowledge of credit/debit card infrastructure, ledger systems, or payment networks
- Experience building high-scale distributed systems
