Visa is on the lookout for a strategic, visionary leader to join its Value-Added Services (VAS) Product Development team as the Director of Workforce Planning, Location & Space Strategy, and Third-Party Management. Reporting to the Senior Director of VAS Product Development, this role serves as a key strategic advisor to the SVP and leadership team, driving the growth, optimization, and evolution of an engineering organization that spans 4,000+ employees worldwide.

Visa’s VAS Product Development team drives innovation beyond core payments, focusing on diversified revenue streams and client value. The division builds cutting-edge solutions that solve emerging market needs and shape the future of digital transactions across multiple payment rails.

In this capacity, the Director plays a central role in enhancing operational excellence, driving workforce scalability, and ensuring that Visa’s engineering teams have the proper structure, tools, and partnerships to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Strategic Scope of the Role

This position bridges business strategy, technical execution, and organizational design. The Director leads transformative initiatives to enhance workforce planning, contractor governance, productivity frameworks, and talent development programs.

Core Responsibilities

1. Workforce Planning and Organizational Development

  • Design and execute strategic workforce planning initiatives for an organization of 4,000+ employees.
  • Partner with People, Finance, and Business Leaders to forecast capability, headcount, and talent pipeline needs.
  • Build dashboards and data models to monitor workforce health, capacity, and cost efficiency.
  • Lead change management programs in organizational design, restructuring, and redeployment.

2. Third-Party and Contractor Governance

  • Establish and oversee compliance frameworks for all third-party engagements.
  • Collaborate with Procurement and Legal on vendor contracts, SLAs, and performance evaluation.
  • Drive accountability and cost optimization in contractor utilization.
  • Ensure consistent and compliant onboarding and offboarding processes.

3. University Relations and Early-Career Talent Development

  • Develop a strategic university hiring roadmap aligned with workforce needs.
  • Oversee internship and early-career programs, fostering meaningful work experiences and high conversion rates.
  • Coordinate with Marketing to elevate Visa’s employer brand in the academic ecosystem.
  • Monitor key metrics across recruitment, training, and retention efforts.

4. PMO Alignment and Operational Efficiency

  • Standardize project management practices across multiple PMO verticals.
  • Implement productivity frameworks, knowledge repositories, and performance indicators.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration to ensure strategic alignment with corporate goals.
  • Promote continuous improvement through agile and lean methodologies.

5. Leadership and Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on workforce, vendor, and operational strategies.
  • Build strong partnerships with HR, Procurement, Finance, and Product teams to drive holistic efficiency.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and excellence.

Desired Candidate

The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of strategic vision and operational precision, thriving in environments that demand both analytical thinking and strong leadership influence.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 10+ years of relevant experience, or
  • Master’s Degree (MBA or equivalent) with 7+ years, or
  • PhD with 4+ years of experience, or
  • 13+ years of related experience, rather than a degree.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 12+ years in workforce strategy, engineering operations, or program management.
  • Proven experience collaborating with C-suite executives and cross-functional leaders.
  • Expertise in program management, governance frameworks, and organizational scaling.
  • Strong familiarity with Agile, Scrum, and Lean principles.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office, Jira, Clarity, and Wiki tools.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills—able to convey insights to executive audiences.
  • Familiarity with Visa’s payment systems or the financial services sector is preferred.

Work Environment & Expectations

  • Schedule: Full-time, hybrid (in-office days determined by Hiring Manager).
  • Work Hours: Flexible, aligned with departmental needs.
  • Travel: 5–10% annually.
  • Physical Requirements: Typical office-based duties, including computer and phone use.

Compensation & Benefits

Estimated Salary Range: USD $153,600 – $247,600 annually (based on experience, skills, and location).
