Espoo, Finland – Metso, a global leader in sustainable technologies for the mining and metals industries, is seeking a talented and driven Automation Engineer/Lead Automation Engineer to join their Anode Casting product team in Espoo. Shape the Future of Anode Casting Automation
In this role, you will be at the forefront of developing and delivering advanced automation systems for anode casting plants worldwide. Your responsibilities will span the entire project lifecycle, from design and FAT testing to installation and start-up at client sites. You’ll work with key technologies including PLC systems (HMI, PLC, Fieldbus, Remote I/O), servo drives, and sensors.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute automation equipment design (HW & SW).
- Conduct inspections and Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) on manufactured equipment.
- Actively participate in project meetings and provide on-site support during equipment installation and commissioning.
- Drive productization and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in casting automation.
- Maintain product master documentation and support service and spare parts activities.
- Contribute to product improvement ideas and manage automation development requirements.
- Potentially lead product development projects and stay informed about automation technology advancements.
- Assist in defining sales specifications.
What You’ll Bring:
- A Technical B.Sc or M.Sc degree in Automation, Electronics, or a related field.
- Proven experience in Automation Design.
- Hands-on experience in PLC and servo drive programming (ideally Siemens or Allen-Bradley).
- Strong collaboration and leadership abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Finnish and English.
While the primary location is Espoo, Metso offers flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options. The role will involve some international travel for client meetings and on-site support.
