About the Role
As a Tech Lead Android Engineer, you will take ownership of key features within Speechify’s Android application. You will guide development efforts, improve app performance, and collaborate with product and design teams to create seamless user experiences.
This role combines hands-on development with leadership responsibilities, making it ideal for engineers who want to shape product direction and mentor team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development of core Android features and ensure high-quality releases
- Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams on feature planning
- Maintain and improve app performance, reliability, and scalability
- Review code, mentor developers, and support team growth
- Manage feature releases and coordinate testing processes
- Troubleshoot critical issues and ensure smooth app functionality
- Contribute to architectural decisions and technical strategy
Requirements / Skills
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on Android development
- Strong expertise in Kotlin and modern Android frameworks
- Experience with architecture patterns such as MVVM and Clean Architecture
- Familiarity with tools like Dagger, Jetpack Navigation, and Room
- Experience with asynchronous programming (Kotlin Coroutines, Flow)
- Strong understanding of UI/UX principles and mobile performance optimization
- Experience writing tests using frameworks like JUnit
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
