Role Purpose
The Engineer, Field Services role at ADNOC Drilling OFS focuses on executing directional drilling, Measurement While Drilling, and Logging While Drilling operations at the wellsite. In addition, the role requires supervising and mentoring junior field engineers while providing technical guidance to external customers and third-party wellsite personnel. Position Summary
This role operates with minimal supervision and carries responsibility for both operational delivery and on-site leadership. The engineer acts as a technical authority at the wellsite, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient drilling operations while delivering high-quality LWD solutions and directional drilling performance.

The role supports the integration of advanced directional drilling and LWD technologies to enhance operational accuracy and decision-making at the wellsite.
Wellsite Support and Capacity Development
The engineer provides hands-on supervision and structured guidance to junior field engineers, thereby strengthening technical capability and operational consistency across field teams.
Operational Execution and Engineering Delivery
This position ensures directional drilling programs, BHA configurations, and downhole tool operations align with approved engineering plans and client requirements.
Business and Client Operations
By maintaining frequent, professional interactions with internal teams and external clients, the role supports service quality, customer satisfaction, and long-term business growth.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Communication
The engineer works closely with operations coordinators, drilling services teams, and client representatives to manage changes in drilling programs and resolve operational challenges efficiently.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Directional Drilling and LWD Operations
- Implement directional drilling, Measurement While Drilling, and Logging While Drilling services at the wellsite.
- Assemble Bottom Hole Assemblies in accordance with approved well and engineering plans.
- Program and prepare downhole tools and surface equipment for required services.
- Administer the operation, inspection, and maintenance of motors and downhole tools at the rig site.
Data Management and Reporting
- Generate daily logs, final logs, and comprehensive well reports for all services performed.
- Maintain accurate well profile plots and provide directional survey data to clients.
- Interpret, program, and troubleshoot LWD data within operational systems.
- Maintain complete and accurate records of wellsite equipment and activities.
Leadership and Problem Resolution
- Supervise and instruct junior field engineers on daily wellsite activities.
- Act as a project lead and mentor, supporting skill development and performance improvement.
- Resolve drilling and operational issues of moderate to complex scope using sound technical judgment.
- Exercise discretion in determining appropriate actions during surveys, directional work, and LWD operations.
Continuous Improvement and Incident Management
- Participate in field incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Complete advanced technical training and assigned wellsite development programs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor to support operational objectives.
Health, Safety, Environment, and Sustainability
The engineer is required to conduct all activities in compliance with ADNOC Drilling standard operating procedures, HSE policies, legal requirements, and sustainability guidelines. This includes active participation in emergency response duties and adherence to international best practices and ADNOC Codes of Practice.
Communication and Working Relationships
Internal Collaboration
The role involves daily interaction with operations coordinators, drilling services teams, and other internal departments on matters related to drilling services and operational performance.
External Engagement
The engineer maintains direct communication with client representatives to discuss drilling service programs, operational updates, and required adjustments at the wellsite.
Candidate Background
Educational Background
A Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline or an equivalent qualification is required.
Experience, Knowledge, and Skills
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
- Strong computer literacy and ability to work with multiple systems simultaneously.
- Proven capability to complete advanced technical training and structured wellsite development programs.
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to take direction and collaborate effectively.
- Clear and professional communication skills with a courteous approach.
- High level of visual acuity and attention to detail to monitor screens, logs, and readouts for extended periods.
- Solid mechanical aptitude to support downhole tool operations and maintenance.
