Volkswagen Group Services Portugal is seeking an experienced SAFe Scrum Master to support its Research and Development unit in Lisbon. The role sits at the heart of the company’s work on autonomous vehicle ecosystems. It focuses on guiding agile teams, nurturing continuous improvement, and enabling the delivery of cloud systems that support commercial self-driving fleets.

Role Context

The team works on core digital building blocks for autonomous commercial vehicles. These systems collect, connect, and process real-time data from various sources. They ensure that fleets of autonomous vehicles can be monitored and managed from a central environment. This foundation allows customers to operate AVs with ease and economic efficiency. The Scrum Master contributes directly to shaping these systems by supporting high-performing agile teams.

Key Areas of Contribution

Agile Leadership and Team Coaching

The Scrum Master acts as a servant leader. The role involves coaching the team and the broader organization on lean and modern agile principles. A strong focus is placed on fostering transparency and ensuring adherence to agreed agile processes.

Continuous Improvement and Team Dynamics

The position encourages a safe environment that supports learning from mistakes. The Scrum Master helps teams achieve self-organization, maintain productive work rhythms, and build strong group dynamics through effective ceremonies and workshops.

Framework and Process Guidance

The professional ensures that agile artefacts remain consistent and meaningful. When needed, the Scrum Master guides teams in selecting the most suitable agile methods. This includes Scrum, Kanban, and the SAFe framework.

Cross-Team Collaboration

The role promotes synergy among teams. It offers ongoing support to Product Owners and ensures teams maintain a clear view of the broader product landscape.

Knowledge Sharing and Community Participation

The Scrum Master stays up to date with modern practices, engages in internal and external communities, and drives continuous improvements across daily operations.

Required Candidate Profile

The ideal professional holds at least three years of relevant experience, supported by a bachelor’s degree or equivalent expertise. Proven experience in international hybrid work environments is essential. Strong moderation and workshop facilitation skills are required, along with deep knowledge of Scrum, Kanban, and preferably SAFe.

The role also requires proficiency in online collaboration tools, especially Mural and Atlassian tools. Excellent spoken and written English is necessary.
