Position Overview
The Military Technician – Motor Vehicle Operations is responsible for operating and maintaining a variety of diesel and gasoline-powered equipment. This includes generators, wheeled and tracked vehicles, forklifts, and cranes, ensuring safe and efficient handling, storage, and transportation of Army equipment. Candidates must hold an active membership as a Soldier in the U.S. Army Reserve before the start date.
Key Area of Impact
Equipment Operation & Maintenance
- Operate generators, wheeled/track vehicles, semi-trailer combinations up to 70 tons, forklifts, and cranes up to 25 tons.
- Perform preventive maintenance and operator servicing, including checking brakes, lights, fluid levels, and tire pressure.
- Issue, receive, and store equipment in warehouses.
- Prepare documentation for equipment dispatch and the Army Oil Analysis Program.
Warehouse & Logistics Support
- Load, unload, and prepare equipment and supplies for transport.
- Inspect incoming warehouse items for damage and serviceability.
- Maintain accurate accountability documents and warehouse reports.
Physical & Operational Requirements
- Work involves standing, stooping, bending, and lifting to 40 pounds.
- Operate vehicles and machinery with moderate physical effort, often in outdoor or drafty conditions.
- Adhere to safety protocols, including the use of hearing protection and other safety equipment.

Eligibility & Membership
- Must be an active member of the U.S. Army Reserve.
- U.S. citizenship required; males born after Dec 31, 1959, must meet Selective Service requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Demonstrated ability to perform motor vehicle operation and warehousing tasks without more than regular supervision.
- Experience operating gasoline-powered equipment, forklifts, and performing preventive maintenance.
- Familiarity with warehouse processes, loading/unloading, and equipment handling.
Required Certifications & Conditions
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- Medical examination before employment
- Drug testing as part of the Drug Abuse Testing Program
- Personnel Security Investigation
