Position Overview
The Power Line Technician plays a critical role in delivering safe and reliable electricity. The incumbent is expected to fully apply their trade qualifications in daily operations and report directly to a staff supervisor or designated delegate. This position involves hands-on work in electric utility transmission and distribution systems, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and operational standards.
Main Responsibilities
- Perform standby duties as assigned to support operational readiness.
- Assist in training apprentices, new employees, and those in lower classifications.
- Execute tasks typically performed by lower classifications when required.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of transmission and distribution systems, protective devices, and isolation procedures.

Education & Certification Requirements
- Journeyman Powerline Technician Interprovincial Certificate or Lineman Trades Qualification Certificate.
- Valid Class 3 driver’s license with air brake endorsement.
Experience & Skills
- Proven experience with electric utility transmission and distribution systems.
- Knowledge of protective and safety devices, clearances, and isolating procedures.
- Ability to work on-call, overtime, and travel as required by operational needs.
