About the Opportunity

Salesloft is hiring a Principal Software Engineer, AI to define the technical direction for AI systems across its Predictive Revenue System.

This is a remote position available within the United States. It is a senior individual-contributor role focused on production AI architecture, large language models, agentic systems, distributed infrastructure, model serving, evaluation frameworks, and technical leadership.

What You’ll Do

• Set the architecture and technical direction for AI systems across the Salesloft platform.
• Design systems for model serving, LLM-powered capabilities, agentic workflows, and supporting infrastructure.
• Build reliable and observable production systems on top of probabilistic and non-deterministic AI components.
• Design evaluation frameworks, guardrails, and quality systems for safe and measurable AI behavior.
• Lead complex AI engineering initiatives from early prototyping through production deployment.
• Establish engineering standards and best practices for AI-native systems.
• Mentor senior engineers and act as a technical multiplier across the AI engineering organization.
• Evaluate emerging foundation models, agent frameworks, and modern AI infrastructure.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Data Science, and Data Platform Engineering.

Required Technical Background

Candidates should have extensive experience designing and building production software systems at scale, with significant depth in AI and machine-learning systems.

Hands-on experience building production systems using large language models or machine-learning models is required, including experience addressing the reliability challenges of non-deterministic AI behavior.

The role also requires deep knowledge of distributed systems, model serving, and the infrastructure needed to operate AI systems reliably at scale.

AI Evaluation and Safety

Salesloft is looking for someone with experience designing AI evaluation frameworks, guardrails, or quality systems that make AI behavior measurable, trustworthy, and appropriate for enterprise use.

Hands-on experience designing and hardening agentic systems that can take autonomous action in production is also required.

Programming and Cloud Skills

Candidates should have strong command of at least one major programming language such as Python, Java, or Go.

Experience with modern cloud infrastructure, including AWS or Google Cloud Platform, is required.

Relevant AI-stack experience includes retrieval-augmented generation, vector stores, agent frameworks, model orchestration, and evaluation tooling.

Technical Leadership

This Principal Engineer role requires a track record of setting technical architecture and engineering standards across teams and mentoring senior engineers.

The successful candidate should be comfortable making architecture decisions in ambiguous environments and using evaluation data and technical evidence to guide those decisions.

Remote Work

This position is remote within the United States. WorkinVirtual should preserve the U.S.-only restriction and should not describe the role as worldwide remote.

Compensation

The U.S. base salary range for this position is $165,000 to $185,000 USD.

This amount represents base pay. Salesloft states that total compensation may also include performance bonus, benefits, or other applicable incentive compensation, which should be treated separately from the base salary range.
