Programme Overview

The Placement Year 2026 campaign brings together multiple UK-based opportunities across marketplace teams. These roles focus on buyer and seller experience, category development, trading, strategy, operations, marketing, and emerging initiatives such as eBay Live.

Participants will work in a collaborative setting alongside Analytics, Product, Marketing, Finance, Category, Operations, and Communications teams. Each placement offers practical exposure to meaningful commercial work, where structured analysis, coordination, and insight generation contribute directly to marketplace performance.

Candidates apply once and may be matched to a specific track according to business priorities, skills, and interests.

Key Responsibilities

Across teams, placement students will:

  • Contribute to measurable marketplace outcomes through performance tracking and operational support
  • Translate data, research, and stakeholder input into structured insights and clear recommendations
  • Assist with planning and execution of category, trading, programme, or operational initiatives
  • Collaborate across functions to strengthen buyer and seller experiences
  • Build analytical, organisational, and communication capability within a large-scale digital platform
  • Gain exposure to decision-making across categories and customer journeys

Placement Tracks

Buyer Strategy – UK Buyer Success

This role supports the UK Buyer Strategy team in improving the buyer experience. Responsibilities include monitoring performance indicators, identifying trends, analysing competitor journeys, and maintaining visibility of local and global initiatives. Through structured reporting and contextual analysis, the placement student contributes to informed commercial discussions.

Electronics and Home – Category Management

Working within the Electronics and Home team, this position supports growth across refurbished and open box programmes. The role combines data analysis with trading coordination, including forecasting against budget, reviewing weekly and monthly drivers, contributing to promotional plans, and supporting pricing and range evaluation.

Global Fashion – Planning and Operations

This role operates at the intersection of strategy, analytics, and operations. The placement student supports global programmes from planning through delivery, maintains dashboards, coordinates regional stakeholders, and contributes to strategic projects that shape growth initiatives across markets.

UK B2C Selling Analyst

Within the UK B2C Selling team, this role represents the perspective of business sellers. Responsibilities include managing operational programmes, analysing seller sentiment metrics, synthesising feedback, and collaborating with partners to strengthen the seller value proposition.

C2C Associate

This position supports C2C selling initiatives by analysing trends, monitoring performance, coordinating marketing activity, and supporting product testing. The role ensures alignment across teams to improve the selling experience and drive growth.

UK Fashion – Category, Trading and Partnerships

This role supports the UK Fashion team across category management and strategic partnerships. Duties include researching resale trends, monitoring competitor activity, supporting promotional planning, maintaining reporting templates, and coordinating activity across marketing and account management functions.

Parts and Accessories – Category Management

Within the Vehicle Parts and Accessories team, this position focuses on analysing category and seller performance, preparing business cases, supporting daily initiatives, and contributing to the rollout of eBay Live within the vertical.

eBay Live – Programming or Operations

This opportunity supports the expansion of live commerce in the UK. Depending on the focus area, responsibilities may include monitoring event performance metrics, supporting seller onboarding, developing materials, improving processes, and coordinating activity.

Marketing – Brand and Media

This role supports campaign planning and execution across channels. Responsibilities include coordinating creative assets, aligning partners, maintaining brand governance, analysing performance results, and translating data into actionable recommendations that drive buyer engagement.

CRM – UK Customer Team

Part of the global CRM organisation, this position focuses on customer communications across email, push, and on-site messaging. Responsibilities include segmentation, content production, quality assurance, scheduling, testing, and performance analysis in collaboration with Analytics, Product, Trading, and Brand teams.

Successful candidates communicate clearly, manage details effectively, and show interest in e-commerce and digital marketplaces. They work confidently with data while remaining collaborative and commercially aware.

Education and Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be enrolled in a UK degree programme
  • Be eligible to complete a 12-month placement from September 2026
  • Remain enrolled at the university until at least September 2027
  • Be able to work in a hybrid model with onsite presence in Richmond, London, according to team requirements
